End-to-end unsupervised clustering neural networks for image clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In this paper, we propose a new clustering module that can be trained jointly with existing neural network layers.  Specifically, we have designed a generic clustering module with a competitive update mechanism. The module consists of a Gaussian unit and

Ten Commandments of Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

open access: yesAnnals of Thoracic Surgery Short Reports
Background: Off-pump coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) surgery offers distinct advantages over conventional on-pump techniques, including reduced inflammatory response, lower stroke risk, and improved outcomes in high-risk patients.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Exploring a learning-to-rank approach to enhance the Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG)-based electronic medical records search engines

open access: yesInformatics and Health
Background: This study addresses the challenge of enhancing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) search engines for electronic medical records (EMR) by learning users' distinct search semantics.

CCHAN: An End to End Model for Cross Domain Sentiment Classification

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Cross domain sentiment classification (CDSC) aims to adopt a model trained by a source domain to a target domain. It has received considerable attention in recent years.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Plastic end-to-end treatment of bulbar urethral stricture

open access: yesGMS Interdisciplinary Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery DGPW, 2013
For bulbar urethral strictures up to 2.5 cm in length, the one-stage urethral plastic surgery with stricture excision and direct end-to-end anastomosis remains the best procedure to guarantee a high success rate. This retrospective review shows the ...

Effective Emotion Transplantation in an End-to-End Text-to-Speech System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper, we propose an effective technique to transplant a source speaker’s emotional expression to a new target speaker’s voice within an end-to-end text-to-speech (TTS) framework.
