English teachers' journeys since the 2020 Iteration of Black Lives Matter
Abstract The 2020 resurgence of Black Lives Matter (BLM) mobilised students in England to demand greater representation of racially minoritised voices in English curriculums—a call highlighted by stark inequity: just 1.5% of GCSE texts studied are by racially minoritised authors, despite racially minoritised students comprising 38.0% of the student ...

A review of the endemic Hawaiian Drosophilidae and their host plants
The Hawaiian Drosophilidae is one of the best examples of rapid speciation in nature. Nearly 1,000 species of endemic drosophilids have evolved in situ in Hawaii since a single colonist arrived over 25 million years ago. A number of mechanisms, including ecological adaptation, sexual selection, and geographic isolation, have been proposed to explain ...

The first inventory of ants from the Xisha Islands of the South China Sea was compiled, revealing 21 species: 70% native and 30% exotic. Anthropogenic disturbance primarily drove exotic colonization, whereas island area showed weak positive effects on species richness. Most ants were omnivorous, with key mutualistic and seed‐dispersal roles.

Land birds on atolls: diversity, origin, and function
ABSTRACT Oceanic islands are global hotspots of avian biodiversity and endemism. Their isolation and distinct environmental conditions have uniquely shaped the evolutionary trajectories of island birds, while, in turn, land bird communities have become critical providers of ecological functions to island ecosystems.
