Investigating Tuberculosis Dynamics Under Various Control Strategies: A Comprehensive Analysis Using Real Statistical Data

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the present investigation, a mathematical model with vaccination, treatment, and environmental impact under real data is presented. Initially, we present the model without any interventions, followed by an examination of its equilibrium points.

On the Global Asymptotic Stability of an Infection‐Age‐Structured Competitive Model

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate an infection‐age‐structured competitive epidemiological model involving multiple strains. While classical results establish competitive exclusion when a unique maximal basic reproduction number exists, we provide here a complete characterization of the asymptotic behavior for an arbitrary number of populations without assuming ...

Repurposing antimicrobial agents for neuroprotection: Mechanisms, clinical potential, and challenges

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial agents exert neuroprotective effects through modulation of interconnected pathways. Tetracyclines, macrolides, antimalarial agents, sulfones, and antiparasitic agents suppress neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis while preserving mitochondrial function and neurotransmission.

Revisiting the leaf anatomy of Hymenaea martiana: new insights from anatomical and histochemical techniques

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
Hymenaea martiana, known as ‘jatobá', is used in folk medicine and has similarities with Hymenaea courbaril, making its recognition difficult. Although there are different pharmacological reports that attest to its bioactive potential, there are few studies with leaf extracts in H. martiana.
