Endemic plants of Lake Van Basin

open access: yesAnatolian Journal of Botany, 2018
This study was carried out on endemic plants collected from the Lake Van basin between 1994 and 2002. As a result, 98 endemic taxa, 23 of which grow only in the Lake Van basin, were determined. Including the endemic taxa reported before from the region, a list of 259 endemic taxa belonging to 34 families and 117 genera were compiled.

Effects of grassland management on plants and invertebrates in Transylvania, Romania : a threat to local biodiversity hotspots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Nutrient-poor grasslands are considered regional biodiversity hotspots and therefore of high conservation value (Blab & Kudrna 1982; Bignal & McCracken 1996; Sánchez-Zapata et al. 2003).

Computer-Assisted Recovery of Threatened Plants: Keys for Breaking Seed Dormancy of Eryngium viviparum

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2017
Many endangered plants such as Eryngium viviparum (Apiaceae) present a poor germination rate. This fact could be due to intrinsic and extrinsic seed variability influencing germination and dormancy of seeds.

Endemic plant species are more palatable to introduced herbivores than non-endemics

open access: yesProceedings of the Royal Society B, 2019
Islands harbour a spectacular diversity and unique species composition. This uniqueness is mainly a result of endemic species that have evolved in situ in the absence of mammal herbivores.
