Determination of Gene‐Level Fitness Contributions Across the Mucin‐Utilization Network of Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Genome‐wide CRISPRi and RNA‐seq resolve how B. thetaiotaomicron converts host mucosal glycans into fitness. The study reveals a layered mucin‐utilization architecture in which capsular polysaccharides constrain surface access, extracellular CAZymes and peptidases show functional redundancy, and intracellular catabolic pathways create discrete metabolic

NHC‐Copper(I)‐Mediated Functionalization of White Phosphorus

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
White phosphorus is functionalized by N‐heterocyclic carbene supported copper(I) complexes through redox‐neutral steps. Treatment of the resulting complexes with electrophiles releases the ligands from the metal center as asymmetrically substituted organophosphorus butterfly compounds.

One‐Step Induction of Oogonia‐Like and Pro‐Spermatogonia‐Like Cells From Porcine Pluripotent Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study established a one‐step method inducing pro‐spermatogonia‐like (activating SOX17) and oogonia‐like (activating SOX17/TFAP2C) cells from porcine pgEpiSCs with a NANOS3‐tdTomato reporter. EGF activates the core PGC program and supports survival; BMP4 further induces NANOS3 and DDX4 expression; IWR1 enhances PGCLC efficiency by suppressing ...

An Efficient Method for Cyclopentene Annulation onto α,β-Unsaturated Ketones:  W(CO)5(L)-Catalyzed 5-Endo-Dig Cyclization of 6-Siloxy-5-en-1-ynes

open access: yes, 2016
A highly efficient method for the cyclopentene annulation onto α,β-unsaturated ketones is described. Indium-mediated 1,4-propargylation onto α,β-unsaturated ketones in the presence of tert-butyldimethylsilyl triflate and dimethyl sulfide gives the 6 ...

Novel, cold-adapted D-laminaribiose- and D-glucose-releasing GH16 endo-β-1,3-glucanase from Hymenobacter siberiensis PAMC 29290, a psychrotolerant bacterium from Arctic marine sediment

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Endo-β-1,3-glucanase is a glycoside hydrolase (GH) that plays an essential role in the mineralization of β-glucan polysaccharides. In this study, the novel gene encoding an extracellular, non-modular GH16 endo-β-1,3-glucanase (GluH) from Hymenobacter ...

Endo-permutation modules, a guided tour [PDF]

open access: yes
Shortly after the final classification of all endo-trivial modules for a finite p- group P by Jon Carlson and Jacques Thévenaz, the complete classification of all endo-permutation modules was obtained by Serge Bouc (The Dade group of a p-group ...

Torsion endo-trivial modules

open access: yes
We prove that the group T(G) of endo-trivial modules for a non-cyclic finite p-group G is detected on restriction to the family of subgroups which are either elementary abelian of rank 2 or (almost) extraspecial.

Annatto‐Derived Carotenoids (Bixin and Norbixin) As Biodiesel Antioxidants: Characterization and Effects on Oxidative Stability (Rancimat and PetroOXY)

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
Annatto‐derived bixin and norbixin were characterized and evaluated as natural antioxidants for soybean biodiesel. Their antioxidant performance and effects on oxidative stability were assessed using DPPH, Rancimat, and PetroOXY methods. ABSTRACT The increasing use of eco‐friendly fuels is increasing the production of biodiesel but soybean biodiesel is
