Abstract Aims The extent of irreversible cardiomyocyte necrosis after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a major determinant of residual left ventricular (LV) function and clinical outcome. Cell therapy based on CD34+ cells has emerged as an option to help repair the myocardium and to improve outcomes.

The Endothelial CXCR Family in Vascular Health and Disease
ABSTRACT Endothelial cells (ECs) form the dynamic interface between blood and tissue, serving as key regulators of vascular homeostasis, inflammation, and repair. Among the molecular systems governing endothelial behavior, the C‐X‐C motif chemokine receptor (CXCR) family—originally characterized in immunology for its roles in leukocyte trafficking and ...

The Pressure Gradient across the Endocardium [PDF]
A mathematical formalism for the non-linear end-systolic pressure-volume relation (ESPVR) in the heart ventricles has the interesting feature that the peak active pressure generated by the myocardium (also called peak isovolumic pressure P isom by physiologists) is included in the mathematical formalism describing the ESPVR.

BackgroundThe underlying mechanisms of Brugada syndrome (BrS) are not completely understood. Recent studies provided evidence that the electrophysiological substrate, leading to electrocardiogram abnormalities and/or ventricular arrhythmias, is located ...

The V6R/V4R amplitude index is a novel and practical electrocardiographic parameter for identifying idiopathic ventricular arrhythmias originating from the aortic cusp. A cutoff >0.55 accurately distinguishes cusp from adjacent non‐cusp origins within the left ventricular outflow tract, facilitating targeted mapping and procedural planning.

Transmural Autonomic Regulation of Cardiac Contractility at the Intact Heart Level
The relationship between cardiac excitability and contractility depends on when Ca2+ influx occurs during the ventricular action potential (AP). In mammals, it is accepted that Ca2+ influx through the L-type Ca2+ channels occurs during AP phase 2 ...

Abstract figure legend Using a multiscale computational model of left ventricular electromechanics, we investigated how sarcomere dynamics influence the end‐systolic pressure‐volume (ESPV) relationship in ejecting beats compared to isovolumetric beats.

Abstract figure legend Traditional planar imaging approaches of the left atrium do not capture complex geometry. Four‐dimensional imaging allows the acquisition of 3D data + time to visualize left atrial geometry and kinematics. We designed an advanced analysis technique to investigate left atrial biomechanics in a model of pressure overload and ...
