Study on pecan seed germination influenced by seed endocarp
Nondeep physiological dormancy exists in freshly harvested pecan (Carya illinoinensis) seed, and the endocarp inhibits the seed germination. New methods were tried to detect if “chemical dormancy” or “mechanical dormancy” was caused by the endocarp.

Valorization of fruit pits from Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera as agro-food byproducts: Bioactive properties and safety assessment for potential food additive applications. [PDF]
Abstract BACKGROUND Food additives are widely used to extend the shelf life of foods and maintain their quality. In this study, the potential of Prunus laurocerasus and Prunus cerasifera fruit pits (endocarp and seed) as food additives was investigated in terms of cytotoxicity, antigenotoxicity, antioxidant activity, enzymatic anti‐browning, and urease

Metabolomics Data Revealed Metabolite Changes during Endocarp Lignification in Kernel-Using Apricot
To understand the metabolite dynamics and genetic regulatory mechanism of apricot shell, a typical endocarp, before and after lignification are unknown, we investigated the metabolite differences of the endocarp of ‘Youyi,’ a popular kernel-using apricot

Analysis of similarities and differences of accessions belonging to Prunus domestica L. and P. insititia L. using endocarp dimensions [PDF]
The endocarp or stone is the most stable morphological feature of the genus Prunus. However, the identification of plum types, groups and/or genotypes based on endocarp is complicated because of a wide range of variation and morphological transitional ...

Characterizing the role of endocarp a and b cells layers during pod (silique) development in Brassicaceae [PDF]
The process of silique dehiscence is essential for the proper dispersal of seeds at the end of a dehiscent fruit plants lifecycle. Current research focuses on genetic manipulation to mitigate this process and enhance shatter tolerance in crop plants ...

The role of JrLACs in the lignification of walnut endocarp
Background The walnut shell, which is composed of a large number of sclereids originating from the lignified parenchyma of the endocarp, plays an important role in fruit development and during harvesting and storage.

Transcript assembly and quantification by RNA-Seq reveals differentially expressed genes between soft-endocarp and hard-endocarp hawthorns. [PDF]
Hawthorn (Crataegus spp.) is an important pome with a long history as a fruit, an ornamental, and a source of medicine. Fruits of hawthorn are marked by hard stony endocarps, but a hawthorn germplasm with soft and thin endocarp was found in Liaoning ...
