Endocrine system disturbances in children with inherited metabolic diseases: a narrative review

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
Inborn metabolic diseases (IMDs) represent a diverse and complex group of rare disorders, typically resulting from variants in genes that encode specific enzymes or cofactors, leading to reduced or absent enzymatic activity.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Expression of the neural cell adhesion NCAM in endocrine cells of the ovary [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In the adult mammalian ovary morphogenesis and differentiation processes are under hormonal control and, thus, occur in a highly regulated way during the sexual cycle.

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Development and validation of mRNA expression-based classifiers to predict low-risk thyroid tumors

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundMolecular variants and fusions in thyroid nodules can provide prognostic information at a population level. However, thyroid cancers harboring the same molecular alterations may exhibit diverse clinical behavior.

PPCM and the endocrine system

open access: yesHeart, 2019
We sincerely thank Dr Jolobe for the response to our paper1 and very much appreciate the interesting addition2 to the discussion on this difficult topic. It is true that autoimmunity has been proposed to play a role in the aetiology of Peripartum Cardiomyopathy (PPCM), as we mention in our introduction.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Dental management of patients with endocrine disorders [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Introduction: The endocrine system is responsible for hormonal secretion and is closely related to the central nervous system, as it diversifies its functions through the hypothalamus and pituitary glands.

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.
