Endogenous Timing in Vertically-Related Markets

The B.E. Journal of Theoretical Economics, 2018
Abstract This paper investigates the theory of endogenous timing by taking into account a vertically-related market where an integrated firm competes with a downstream firm. Contrary to the standard results in the literature, we find that both firms play a sequential game in quantity competition and play a simultaneous game in price competition.

Endogenous oscillations in short-interval timing

Behavioural Processes, 2007
A defining feature of a circadian oscillator is that periodic output from the oscillator continues after the termination of periodic input. In contrast, a defining feature of a pacemaker-accumulator system is that elapsed time is measured with respect to the presentation of a stimulus, according to the classic description of this system.

Endogenous Border Times

2016
We examine transaction-level Peruvian import data to show that firms are subject to significant costs of port-of-entry delays. At the transaction level, we observe the time it takes a shipment to clear each step in the entry process. Our theory shows conditions under which observed entry times are endogenous. As a result, total entry delays potentially

Endogenous timing in contests

2018
This second volume of the Handbook includes original contribution by experts in the field. It provides up-to-date surveys of the most relevant applications of game theory to industrial organization. The book covers both classical as well as new IO topics such as mergers in markets with homogeneous and differentiated goods, leniency and coordinated ...

Endogenous Growth Cycles in Continuous Time

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2003
The endogenous dynamics of a closed constant returns multi-market economy are examined in which agents face downward sloping demand. The trigger for growth in this model is a technological change that warrants costly adjustment in input quantities by agents. In the resulting dynamic game, relative prices within markets remain constant.

Time estimation and chronopathology in endogenous depression

Acta Psychiatrica Scandinavica, 1985
ABSTRACT– In recent empirical research on endogenous depression, time estimation has frequently been discussed in the context of chronopathological reflections, without empirical evidence of the postaulated correlations between changes in speed of the “internal clock” and indicators of time estimation.

Duopoly Game with Endogenous Move-timing and Endogenous Strategic Variables

2010 International Conference on E-Business and E-Government, 2010
This paper studies the equilibrium outcomes of a duopoly game under double endogenous choices, i.e. both the strategic variables (price or quantity) and the move-timing (first-mover or second-mover) are chosen endogenously. It is showed that whether the strategic variables are chosen before or after endogenous timing the equilibrium outcomes are ...
