Hyperthermophilic endoglucanase for in planta lignocellulose conversion [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology for Biofuels, 2012
Abstract Background The enzymatic conversion of lignocellulosic plant biomass into fermentable sugars is a crucial step in the sustainable and environmentally friendly production of biofuels. However, a major drawback of enzymes from mesophilic sources is their suboptimal activity under established pretreatment ...

Novel Hyperthermophilic Crenarchaeon Thermofilum adornatum sp. nov. Uses GH1, GH3, and Two Novel Glycosidases for Cellulose Hydrolysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
A novel hyperthermophilic, anaerobic filamentous archaeon, Thermofilum adornatum strain 1910bT, is capable of growing with cellulose as its sole carbon and energy source. This strain was isolated from a terrestrial hot spring in Kamchatka, Russia.

CELLULASES FROM THE BASIDIO - MYCETES CULTURAL LIQUID [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnologia Acta, 2013
Adsorption of cellulases on substrate taking place during the cultivation process was determined. Adsorbed enzymes can be eluted by buffer solution with high ionic strength, but for determine their activity they should be transferred into the aqueous ...

Harnessing plant‐based platform for low‐cost cellulosic sugar recovery from bioenergy crops

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract The price of pure cellulase enzyme for the recovery of fermentable cellulosic sugars is one of the major challenges that limit the commercialization of second‐generation biofuels and bio‐based products. This work shows a means to greatly reduce the cost of cellulases. The abundant capacity of plants to synthesize and hyperaccumulate transgenic

Integrated biorefinery for cellulosic ethanol and spherical nanolignin production from coconut waste

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, EarlyView.
Abstract Green coconut waste was subjected to different fractionation methods to obtain integrated lignin nanoparticles and cellulosic ethanol. Pretreatment with gradual addition of dilute sulfuric acid provided a higher structural hemicellulose precursor yield (68.2%).

Stage‐Dependent Metabolic Reprogramming Drives a Self‐Organizing Microbial Network During Shanxi Aged Vinegar

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
Metabolic shifts from growth to stress adaptation in Shanxi aged vinegar fermentation link flavor maturation and microbial cooperation, and Lactobacillus and Acetobacter form a self‐organizing metabolic network through division of labor. ABSTRACT Acetic acid fermentation (AAF) is a vital stage in the production of Shanxi aged vinegar (SAV), during ...

A Metagenomic Advance for the Cloning and Characterization of a Cellulase from Red Rice Crop Residues

open access: yesMolecules, 2016
Many naturally-occurring cellulolytic microorganisms are not readily cultivable, demanding a culture-independent approach in order to study their cellulolytic genes. Metagenomics involves the isolation of DNA from environmental sources and can be used to
