Endometrial stromal cells and decidualized stromal cells: origins, transformation and functions.

Gene, 2014
Decidualization of endometrium, which is characterized by endometrial stromal cell (ESC) decidualization, vascular reconstruction, immune cell recruitment, and plentiful molecule production, is a crucial step for uterus to become receptive for embryo. When implantation takes place, ESCs surround and directly interact with embryo.

Bizarre Stromal Cells in an Endometrial Polyp

International Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2016
Bizarre stromal cells have been reported in vulvovaginal polyps, as well as in nongynecologic sites, with caution not to mistake them for malignancy. Similar atypical stromal cells have only rarely been reported in the endometrium. We present a case found incidentally in a postmenopausal woman, and review the literature.

Ultrastructure of Endometrial Stromal Foam Cells

American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1979
An endometrium with cystic-glandular hyperplasia contained large foam cells in the stroma. The majority had ultrastructural characteristics of endometrial stromal cells, although a few were interpreted as macrophages. Endometrial stromal cells that appeared normal by light microscopy contained varying quantities of lipid on ultrastructural examination,

Endometrial Polyps With Atypical (Bizarre) Stromal Cells

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2002
Atypical stromal cells of the lower female gynecologic tract have been specifically described in the vagina, vulva, and cervix, predominantly in the context of polyps. Rare cases of atypical stromal cells have been documented in the endometrium. We report a series of 15 examples of atypical stromal cells in the endometrium: 13 in endometrial polyps and
