Can We Breed Microbiomes to Sustain Plant Productivity?
Plant domestication unintentionally reshaped crop microbiomes. We propose extending breeding beyond plant genomes to include the microbiome, integrating rewilding, QTL‐guided recruitment and ecological network design. Treating the microbiome as a selectable trait may unlock durable crop resilience under climate stress. ABSTRACT Global food systems face

ABSTRACT High‐throughput sequencing of the Internal Transcribed Spacer (ITS) regions is the primary method for estimating fungal diversity from environmental DNA. However, reliance solely on ITS markers is complicated by its high variability in sequence length and the presence of multiple variants within a single genome, which can bias diversity ...

This work reviewed the direct and indirect effects of fires on microbial communities and the resilience strategies microbes use to withstand high temperatures . ABSTRACT Fire, whether occurring on the surface or underground, significantly influences soil microbial dynamics by reshaping community composition, functional diversity and overall soil and ...

Diversity and Dispersal of Fungi Along a Subtropical Land‐to‐Sea Continuum
This study investigates the marine mycobiome by integrating cross‐habitat sampling with a long‐read amplicon sequencing approach. The results provide novel insights into the largely unexplored fungal diversity in coastal ecosystems and highlight the role of dispersal, evidenced by the detection of transported terrestrial fungal taxa.
