Maize Endosperm Proteins That Contribute to Endosperm Lysine Content

Cereal Chemistry, 1999
ABSTRACTNonzein proteins were analyzed using SDS‐PAGE to study their relationship to lysine level in mature endosperm of three isogenic lines and 29 inbred lines. The majority of nonzein proteins are glutelins that contain a relatively high lysine content.

Endosperm and Maternal-specific expression ofEIN2in the endosperm affects endosperm cellularization and seed size inArabidopsis

Genetics, 2022
AbstractSeed size is related to plant evolution and crop yield and is affected by genetic mutations, imprinting, and genome dosage. Imprinting is a widespread epigenetic phenomenon in mammals and flowering plants. ETHYLENE INSENSITIVE2 (EIN2) encodes a membrane protein that links the ethylene perception to transcriptional regulation.

Quantitative structural organisation model for wheat endosperm cell walls: Cellulose as an important constituent.

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2018
The cell walls of cereal endosperms are a major source of fibre in many diets and of importance in seed structure and germination. Cell walls were isolated from both pure wheat endosperm and milled flour.

Living smears from endosperm

Experientia, 1955

Starch biosynthesis in cereal endosperm

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2010
Stored starch generally consists of two d-glucose homopolymers, the linear polymer amylose and a highly branched glucan amylopectin that connects linear chains. Amylopectin structurally contributes to the crystalline organization of the starch granule in cereals.

Genetics of Endosperm

Nature, 1955
IN Trillium grandiflorum and other species of the same genus, cold treatment reveals differences between homologous chromosomes with regard to number and/or length of heterochromatic segments1. In our experiments, differences have been found in the B-, C- and E-chromosomes (Figs. 1, 2A).

Sorghum endosperm texture – A review

Plant Foods for Human Nutrition, 1998
A review of literature on endosperm texture determination and its relationship with milling performance is presented. Methods for measuring sorghum endosperm texture as abrasive, pearling and wet milling are reported. This review describes some indirect methods: time to grind by the Brabender microhardness tester (BHMT), resistance to grinding by the ...

Rice starch biotechnology: Rice endosperm as a model of cereal endosperms

Starch - Stärke, 2017
During the last couple of decades, rapid progress has been made in increasing our understanding of the specific contributions of the most important enzymes to starch biosynthesis in cereal endosperms, particularly in rice endosperm. Now, we can basically predict how and to what extent the starch‐related phenotypes can be modified in the endosperm in ...
