Linear Endotheliitis

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1994
We treated six eyes of five patients with linear endotheliitis. This entity appears clinically as a line of keratic precipitates on the corneal endothelium that progresses centrally and is accompanied by peripheral stromal and epithelial edema. All five patients had ocular pain, redness, and photophobia.

Endothelial Lessons

Current Vascular Pharmacology, 2016
This essay focuses on nine important lessons learned during more than thirty years of endothelial research. They include: the danger of hiding behind a word, the confusion generated by abbreviations, the need to define the physiological role of the response studied, the local role of endothelium- dependent responses, the strength of pharmacological ...

Endothelial keratoplasty for corneal endothelial dystrophy in a dog

Veterinary Ophthalmology, 2019
AbstractObjectiveTo assess the efficacy of an endothelial keratoplasty procedure at defined intervals to 1 year postoperatively for the treatment of corneal endothelial dystrophy (CED) in a canine patient.ProcedureA dog diagnosed with CED with progressive corneal edema underwent an endothelial keratoplasty.

Cytomegalovirus Endotheliitis in Descemet's Stripping Endothelial Keratoplasty

Ophthalmology, 2009
To report 4 cases of undiagnosed cytomegalovirus (CMV) endotheliitis in patients who underwent Descemet's stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK).Retrospective interventional case series.Four eyes of 4 patients diagnosed with active CMV endotheliitis after DSAEK.Retrospective review of the medical records of 4 patients with DSAEK who had ...

Decreased Endothelial Permeability in the Iridocorneal Endothelial Syndrome

Ophthalmology, 1982
Five patients with the iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome were examined by fluorophotometry. All patients had typical abnormal corneal endothelium, peripheral anterior synechiae, and distortion of the iris (pupillary irregularity or anterior stromal traction tears) in one eye only.

Immunophenotyping of Circulating Endothelial Cells and Endothelial Microparticles

2019
Flow-cytometric detection of circulating endothelial cells and endothelial microparticles is an essential tool in studies of vascular diseases. Here we describe the principles and detailed methods for human blood sample processing, storage, labeling, and gating of circulating endothelial elements.

Endothelial cell viability of endothelial lenticules

Acta Ophthalmologica, 2012
AbstractPurpose Despite concerns about the attrition of the post‐operative endothelial cell density (ECD), endothelial keratoplasty, whatever the method of lenticule preparation has gain popularity over penetrating keratoplasty because of a short/medium‐term favourable benefit/risk balance.

Circulating Endothelial Cells and Circulating Endothelial Progenitors

2012
The roles of circulating endothelial cells (CECs) and circulating endothelial progenitors (CEPs) are currently being investigated in several diseases including cancer and metastases development. Preclinical and clinical data suggest that CEC enumeration might be useful to identify patients who might benefit from anti-angiogenic treatments while CEPs ...

Endothelial Dysfunction in Hypertension

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 2001
Endothelium can deeply influence vascular tone and structure. The main endothelium derived factor is nitric oxide, which is not only a potent vasodilator but also inhibits platelet aggregation, smooth muscle cell migration and proliferation, monocyte adhesion and adhesion molecule expression, thus protecting the vessel wall against the development of ...

Endothelial nitric oxide synthase and endothelial dysfunction

Current Hypertension Reports, 2003
Nitric oxide (NO) regulates vascular tone and local blood flow, platelet aggregation and adhesion, and leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions. Abnormalities in NO production by the vascular endothelium result in endothelial dysfunction, which occurs in hypertension, diabetes, aging, and as a prelude to atherosclerosis.
