Improved neo-endothelialization of small diameter ePTFEgrafts with titanium coating

open access: yes, 2006
BACKGROUND: Patency of small synthetic bypass grafts is inferior compared to autologous grafts for revascularization procedures. Titanium coating of foreign surfaces has shown to decrease thrombogenicity, enhance biocompatibility and promote adhesion of ...

An Endothelial Cell Is Not Simply an Endothelial Cell

open access: yesStem Cells and Development
Endothelial cells (ECs) are a multifaceted component of the vascular system with roles in immunity, maintaining tissue fluid balance, and vascular tone. Dysregulation or dysfunction of ECs can have far-reaching implications, leading pathologies ranging from cardiovascular diseases, such as hypertension and atherosclerosis, ischemia, chronic kidney ...

Advances in 3D Bioprinting for Breast Cancer Modeling: Tumor Microenvironment, Metastasis, and Drug Screening

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Three‐dimensional bioprinting transforms breast cancer modeling from simple constructs into spatially organized, multicellular, perfused, and patient‐derived platforms. This review shows how bioinks, cellular composition, architecture, and flow govern tumor behavior and drug response, while revealing why complexity alone is insufficient without ...

Computed Tomography‐ and Photoacoustic Imaging‐Active Bioresorbable Electrospun Bismuth Nanoparticle‐Infused Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A polymeric graft loaded with radiopaque bismuth nanoparticles is expected to undergo gradual polymer resorption and nanoparticle release. This design enables noninvasive, multimodal monitoring of device integrity, patency, and degradation using computed tomography alongside ultrasound and photoacoustic imaging over 12 weeks.

Pattern of Endothelialization in Left Atrial Appendage Occluder by Optic Coherence Tomography: A Pilot Study

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Implantation of the left atrial appendage occluder (LAAO) has been proven to prevent stroke effectively in patients with atrial fibrillation who cannot tolerate anticoagulants.

Hydrogel‐Based Airway‐on‐Tube With Perfusable Endothelial Lumen and Outward Epithelialization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hydrogel‐based airway‐on‐tube platform featuring a perfusable endothelial lumen and outward epithelialization is presented. The system supports primary human bronchial epithelial and lung microvascular endothelial coculture under air‐liquid interface conditions.

Computational Fluid Dynamics Modeling of Cell Distributions Towards Targeted Re-endothelialization in the Lung [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Complete re-endothelialization of acellular lung scaffolds remains a significant barrier for the clinical application of regenerated lungs. Current methods of delivering endothelial cells have led to insufficient coverage of the pulmonary vasculature ...

Optimising graft survival in endothelial keratoplasty for endothelial failure secondary to cytomegalovirus endotheliitis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Ophthalmic Inflammation and Infection, 2019
There is limited information regarding Descemet stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (DSAEK) for endothelial failure secondary to cytomegalovirus (CMV) endotheliitis. Treatment is difficult with high recurrence rates. We describe a case when systemic valganciclovir therapy is directed by aqueous CMV-DNA levels, leading to good graft survival.A ...

Liquid Gallium Nanozyme Coatings Enable Sustained Nitric Oxide Generation With Antioxidant and Anti‐Inflammatory Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liquid gallium (Ga) acts as a catalytic center for nitric oxide (NO) generation within a tannic acid–zirconium metal–phenolic network coating. Stabilized Ga nanoparticles catalyze S‐nitrosothiol decomposition through surface electron transfer, enabling controlled NO production, enhancing endothelial biocompatibility, and providing antioxidant and anti ...

Anti-CD34 Antibodies Immobilized on the Surface of Sirolimus-Eluting Stents Enhance Stent Endothelialization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
ObjectivesIn this study, we hypothesized that an antihuman-CD34 antibody immobilized on the surface of commercially available sirolimus-eluting stents (SES) could enhance re-endothelialization compared with SES alone.BackgroundPrevious experience with ...
