Endothelin-B Receptor-Mediated Suppression of Endothelial Apoptosis
Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1998Endothelin (ET)-1 is an endothelium-derived vasoconstrictor as well as a mitogen. We have recently described a novel role of ET-1 as a survival factor for rat endothelial cells from serum deprivation-induced apoptosis. The present study was designed to determine which receptor subtype (ETA or ETB) is responsible for and what intracellular mediators are

Endothelium, 1997
The human type-B endothelin receptor (h-ETB) was cloned from human lung poly A+RNA and stably expressed in CHO cells. Endothelin (ET) receptor binding and stimulation of PI hydrolysis demonstrated that the cloned h-ETB receptor is functional and linked to intracellular signal transduction pathways in CHO cells.

Altered endothelin-3 and endothelin-B receptor mRNA expression in hirschsprung's disease
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1999Recently, the endothelin-3 (EDN3) and endothelin-B receptor (EDNRB) gene have been recognized as susceptibility genes for Hirschsprung's disease (HD). However, gene mutations have been observed only in limited cases, and the role of EDN3 in the pathogenesis and motility dysfunction in HD is not understood fully.

Endothelin-1 Enhances Pressor Responses to Norepinephrine: Involvement of Endothelin-B Receptor
Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1998We investigated the effects of endothelin-1 (ET-1) on pressor responses to norepinephrine (NE) in perfused rat mesenteric arteries. Perfusion of the arteries with a subpressor dose of ET-1 (3 x 10(-10) M) for 15 min markedly enhanced the pressor responses to NE (10(-6) and 3 x 10(-6) M), and this effect was significantly prevented by BQ788 (10(-6) M ...

Augmented expression of endothelin‐1, endothelin‐3 and the endothelin‐B receptor in breast carcinoma
Histopathology, 2000AimsEndothelins (ETs) are peptides expressed in many tumours which may stimulate angiogenesis and desmoplasia. Because ETs have not been extensively studied mammary neoplasia, we assessed ET protein and mRNA expression and receptor mRNA expression in normal and neoplastic breast tissues. Methods and resultsTissues from five normal breasts, six ...

Endothelin-1 (ET-1) is overexpressed in breast carcinomas and influences via its receptors (ETAR and ETBR) transformation, differentiation and growth processes in the human breast, but little is known about the ET expression in breast cancer precursors.

Mutations of the endothelin-B receptor and endothelin-3 genes in Hirschsprung?s disease
Pediatric Surgery International, 1996The endothelin-B receptor gene (EDNRB) and the endothelin-3 gene (EDN3) have recently been recognized as susceptibility genes for Hirschsprung's disease (HD). Novel EDNRB mutations have been detected in non-syndromic HD patients with heterozygous forms, and homozygous mutations of the EDNRB or the EDN3 genes have been reported in HD patients associated

Antidiuretic effects of endothelin B receptor antagonism
The FASEB Journal, 2008Activation of endothelin (ET)‐B receptors has diuretic and natriuretic effects. Whether these effects are mediated by renal hemodynamic mechanisms or by renal tubular inhibition of salt and water reabsorbtion is unclear. We tested the hypothesis that systemic administration of ET‐B receptor antagonist (BQ‐788) at concentrations devoid of renal ...

Endothelin and Endothelin A/B Receptors Are Increased after Ischaemic Acute Renal Failure
Nephron Experimental Nephrology, 2001<i>Background/Aims:</i> Endothelin (ET) has been implicated as an indirect mediator of injury following acute renal ischaemia (ARI). The purpose of this study was to localize and quantitate ET and ETA and ETB receptors following ARI. <i>Methods:</i> A model of ARI, well characterized
