Design and Synthesis of Novel Purine Analogues as Potential IL‐1β Inhibitors Targeting Vascular Inflammation

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2026.
Initial screening of the synthesized compounds revealed that compounds MK175 and MK169 inhibited LPS‐induced IL‐1β release in human aortic smooth muscle cells. ABSTRACT Proinflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL)‐1β is a key mediator of the inflammatory response in atherosclerosis.

A Case of Atrial Septal Defect Unveiled by the Treatment for Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT We present a case of a 51‐year‐old woman with atrial septal defect (ASD) masked by pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Three months after PAH treatment with a combination of endothelin receptor antagonist and phosphodiesterase five inhibitor, the transthoracic echocardiography revealed left‐to‐right shunting through a secundum ASD.

Edible Seeds in the Fight Against Hypertension: A Review of In Vitro, In Vivo, and Clinical Evidences With a Mechanistic Insight of Bioactive Compounds

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 1, January 2026.
The presented review provides the potential antihypertensive benefits of traditionally employed edible seeds, presenting new perspectives and avenues for future research. ABSTRACT Hypertension, often referred to as a silent killer, is responsible for 7.5 million deaths, representing approximately 12.8% of all global mortality.
