Research in Energetic Compounds

1984
Abstract : Fluoronitro polymers for use as binders in pyrotechnics applications were investigated. Isopropyl 3,3-difluroroacrylate and 2,2-difluorovinyl isopropyl ketone were synthesized from 3-chloro-3,3-difluoropropionate and 1-chloro-1,1-difluoro-4-methyl-3-pentanone.

Experimental diffusivity of energetic compounds determined by peak parking

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2022
Diffusivities of several explosive compounds, as well as other complex organic compounds were experimentally derived using a peak parking methodology. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with stop flow 'parking' was used to experimentally determine diffusivity based on band broadening associated with chemical diffusion within the HPLC column.

Energetic characterization of a bioactive compound: Uridine

The Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics, 2018
Abstract The standard ( p o  = 0.1 MPa) molar enthalpy of formation of crystalline uridine, (C 9 H 12 N 2 O 6 ), was determined from its specific energy of combustion, measured by static bomb combustion calorimetry, in oxygen, at T  = 298.15 K, as −(1159.8 ± 1.8) kJ mol −1 .

Synthesis of novel energetic compounds. 4

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 1982
Reported here are the synthesis and physical properties of eight novel azido compounds. These include four polyalkylene glycol diazides and four tetraazido polyesters. The compounds have been characterized in terms of freezing point, density, refractive index, thermal stability, and impact sensitivity.

Continuous Crystallization of Submicrometer Energetic Compounds

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 2010
AbstractThis study introduces the conception of an apparatus to crystallize continuously nanosized explosive or more generally nanosized organic materials. These materials can be elaborated in pure state or in form of mixtures of energetic and inert materials.

Energetics of β-lactoglobulin–flavor compounds interactions

Food Research International
Interaction of bovine β-lactoglobulin (BLG) with several flavor compounds (FC) (2-methylpyrazine, vanillin, 2-acetylpyridine, 2- and 3-acetylthiophene, methyl isoamyl ketone, heptanone, octanone, and nonanone) was studied by high-sensitivity differential scanning calorimetry.

Energetics of Anaerobic Degradation Pathways of Chlorinated Aliphatic Compounds

Microbial Ecology, 2000
This minireview explores the energetics of the (anaerobic) oxidative and fermentative degradation of halogenated ethenes and ethanes. It is shown that these pathways are viable alternatives to the traditional routes that start with one or more reductive dechlorination steps.

In Situ Bioremediation of Energetic Compounds in Groundwater

2012
Abstract : This ESTCP demonstration evaluated the technical effectiveness of in situ bioremediation as a treatment technology for explosives, including RDX, HMX, and TNT, in groundwater at the Picati1my Arsenal in Dover, NJ. A recirculation cell design was employed to distribute and mix cheese whey with contaminated grotmdwater in order to promote the ...

Synthesis of novel energetic compounds. 8. Electrosynthesis of azidodinitromethyl compounds

Propellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, 1990
AbstractAzidodinitromethyl compounds represent a new highly energetic class of propellant ingredients. Preparation of these materials was accomplished by means of electroxidative coupling of azide ions to dinitromethyl carbanions. Thus, anodic coupling of sodium azide with ethyl 4,4‐dinitrobutyrate produced ethyl 4‐azido‐4,4‐dinitrobutyrate. Similarly,
