Characteristics of night-time absorption spike events [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
International audienceSudden increases in cosmic radio noise absorption, known as spike events, have been identified as signatures of substorms in the previous studies.

Mechanical energy absorption of architecturally interlocked petal-schwarzites

open access: yesCarbon Trends, 2023
We carried out fully atomistic reactive molecular dynamics simulations to study the mechanical behavior of six newly proposed hybrid schwarzite-based structures (interlocked petal-schwarzites).

Energy transfer in light-harvesting complexes LHCII and CP29 of spinach studied with three pulse echo peak shift and transient grating [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Three pulse echo peak shift and transient grating (TG) measurements on the plant light-harvesting complexes LHCII and CP29 are reported. The LHCII complex is by far the most abundant light-harvesting complex in higher plants and fulfills several ...

Study on the Energy Absorption Performance of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) Structures at Different Load-Bearing Angles

open access: yesBiomimetics
As engineering demands for structural energy absorption intensify, triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures, known for their light weight and exceptional energy absorption, are increasingly valued in aerospace, automotive, and shipping ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Geometric and scale effects on energy absorption of structural composites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
PhDThe challenge faced by structural designers is becoming increasingly difficult as the imposed design criteria of energy absorbing structures requires weight reduction of structures without compromising cost and crushing performance.

Energy absorption mechanism of open-cell Zr-based bulk metallic glass foam [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Open-cell Zr41.25Ti13.25Cu12.5Ni10Be22.5 bulk metallic glass foams were successfully fabricated by a low-pressure melt infiltration method using crude salts as a space-holder material.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.
