Coordinated OVSF code allocation for improved sum rate and energy efficiency in 3G small cells
2016 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2016Power control and carrier allocation are the main focus of work on interference management in 3G heterogeneous networks. This work introduces interference management in 3G small base stations by coordinating the allocation of orthogonal variable spreading factor codes (OVSF) in order to improve both the guaranteed data rate and the system sum rate. An Effort Allocation Method to Optimal Code Sanitization for Quality-Aware Energy Efficiency Improvement. [PDF]
Software energy efficiency has been shown to remarkably affect the energy consumption of IT platforms. Besides "performance" of the code in efficiently accomplishing a task, its "correctness" matters too. Software containing defects is likely to fail and the computational cost to complete an operation becomes much higher if the user encounters a ...

Rate multiplication and two-group resource allocation in multi-code CDMA networks [PDF]
The residual energy in multi-code CDMA systems is not used to transmit any useful information and may increase up to the incremental energy multiplied with the number of multi-code channels.

Energy allocation strategies for turbo codes with short frames
Proceedings International Conference on Information Technology: Coding and Computing (Cat. No.PR00540), 2002Turbo codes have been shown to approach the Shannon limit for error correcting capability at low signal-to-noise ratios given large sized frames. Extensive research efforts have been examining ways to enhance the performance of turbo codes for short frames (e.g., voice transmission).

Asymmetric energy allocation strategies to improve turbo codes performance
IEEE 54th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC Fall 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37211), 2002We study the effect of asymmetric energy allocations to the output bits of turbo codes. We show that the error floor improves as more energy is given to the non-systematic bits. The standard (symmetric) energy allocation scheme achieves the best results in the waterfall region.

LDPC Codes for Non-Uniform Memoryless Sources and Unequal Energy Allocation
IEEE Communications Letters, 2010In this paper, we design a new energy allocation strategy for non-uniform binary memoryless sources encoded by Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes and sent over Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channels. The new approach estimates the a priori probabilities of the encoded symbols, and uses this information to allocate more energy to the ...

Coded Caching for Smart Grid Enabled HetNets With Resource Allocation and Energy Cooperation
IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2020With the development of millions more small-cell base stations (SBSs) and billions of connected devices in the future wireless networks, the need for energy-efficient system design and operation will be even more compelling. This paper investigates the content caching, resource allocation and energy cooperation in coded cache enabled heterogeneous ...

Coded Caching for Energy Efficient HetNets with Bandwidth Allocation and User Association
2019 IEEE 90th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2019-Fall), 2019Content caching (CC) plays a crucial role in improving quality of service (QoS) and mitigating the congestion of backhaul links for the Heterogenous Networks (HetNets). The accessibility of users to the base stations (BSs) seriously depends on the wireless channel capacities which can be improved by designing an efficient content delivery (CD) policy ...

Decreasing the BER of turbo codes with short frame by optimising the energy allocation
International Journal of Information and Communication Technology, 2015Turbo codes have been shown to approach the Shannon limit for error correcting capability at low signal-to-noise ratios SNR given large sized frames. In standard turbo codes, all bits are transmitted with equal energy. Extensive research efforts have been examining ways to enhance the performance of turbo codes for short frames.

Energy Allocation and Soft Decoding in Noisy Binary Network Coding
2009 WRI International Conference on Communications and Mobile Computing, 2009Network coding is a hot research topic due to its ability to improve network throughput and robustness. Most existing research on network coding assumes that the transmission between two nodes in a network is free of errors. Accompanying with this assumption is that nodes in the network always perform hard decisions regarding the received data bits. In
