Volterra-assisted Optical Phase Conjugation: a Hybrid Optical-Digital Scheme For Fiber Nonlinearity Compensation [PDF]
Mitigation of optical fiber nonlinearity is an active research field in the area of optical communications, due to the resulting marked improvement in transmission performance.

Effect of a ring on the cyclic conjugation in another ring: applications to acenaphthylene-type polycyclic conjugated molecules [PDF]
In a recent work, a method was developed for assessing the influence ief(G, Z0|Z1) of a ring Z1 on the energy effect of another ring Z0 in a polycyclic conjugated molecule G. Herein, a report is given of detailed numerical investigations of ief(G, Z0|Z1)

Spin chains with dynamical lattice supersymmetry [PDF]
Spin chains with exact supersymmetry on finite one-dimensional lattices are considered. The supercharges are nilpotent operators on the lattice of dynamical nature: they change the number of sites.

Half-BPS quotients in M-theory: ADE with a twist [PDF]
We classify Freund-Rubin backgrounds of eleven-dimensional supergravity of the form AdS_4 x X^7 which are at least half BPS; equivalently, smooth quotients of the round 7-sphere by finite subgroups of SO(8) which admit an (N>3)-dimensional subspace of ...

The theory of local mass dimension one fermions of spin one half
About a decade ago the present author in collaboration with Daniel Grumiller presented an `unexpected theoretical discovery' of spin one-half fermions with mass dimension one [JCAP 2005, PRD 2005].

Electrochromic properties of a poly(dithienylfuran) derivative featuring a redox-active dithiin unit [PDF]
A teraryl monomer containing a 1,4-dithiin-furan central unit has been synthesised and characterised by single crystal X-ray crystallography. The di(thienyl)furan monomer 11 was successfully polymerised electrochemically and shown to possess a lower ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

New ``Gauge'' Theories In Six Dimensions [PDF]
More general constructions are given of six-dimensional theories that look at low energy like six-dimensional super Yang-Mills theory. The constructions start with either parallel fivebranes in Type IIB, or M-theory on $(\C^2\times\S^1)/\Gamma$ for ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

The chiral effective pion-nucleon Lagrangian of order p^4
We construct the minimal effective chiral pion-nucleon SU(2) Lagrangian at fourth order in the chiral expansion. The Lagrangian contains 118 in principle measurable terms.
