Experimental and analytical investigation of hydraulic conductivity, energy dissipation, and drag forces in gradually varied flow conditions through rockfill media [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Research in Water and Wastewater
This paper focuses on the flow of water through rockfill porous media and brings out the effect of various parameters on hydraulic conductivity, friction factors, energy losses, drag coefficients, drag forces, and shear forces for such systems ...

Comparing energy loss phenomenology

open access: yes, 2009
High-pT particle production is suppressed in heavy ion collisions due to parton energy loss in dense QCD matter. Here we present a systematic comparison of two different theoretical approximations to parton energy loss calculations: the opacity expansion

MHD-RLC discharge model and the efficiency characteristics of plasma synthetic jet actuator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Major factors affecting efficiency of plasma synthetic jet actuator (PSJA) are analyzed based on a new discharge model in the present paper. The model couples the magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) equations with the resistor–inductor–capacitor (RLC) equations ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Optimal Driving Torque Control Strategy for Front and Rear Independently Driven Electric Vehicles Based on Online Real-Time Model Predictive Control

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal
This paper presents a novel driving torque control strategy for the front and rear independently driven electric vehicle (FRIDEV) to reduce energy consumption and enhance vehicle stability.

Power loss and electromagnetic energy density in a dispersive metamaterial medium

open access: yes, 2009
The power loss and electromagnetic energy density of a metamaterial consisting of arrays of wires and split-ring resonators (SRRs) are investigated. We show that a field energy density formula can be derived consistently from both the electrodynamic (ED)

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Energy loss in a strongly coupled anisotropic plasma

open access: yes, 2012
We study the energy loss of a rotating infinitely massive quark moving, at constant velocity, through an anisotropic strongly-coupled N=4 plasma from holography.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Parton Energy Loss Without Transverse Momentum Broadening

open access: yes, 2008
The JEWEL 1.0 Monte Carlo simulates jet evolution in a medium with a microscopic description of splitting and scattering processes. In the framework of this model we investigate the transverse momentum broadening due to medium effects in different ...
