Energy price risk management

open access: yes, 2000
The price of electricity is far more volatile than that of other commodities normally noted for extreme volatility. Demand and supply are balanced on a knife-edge because electric power cannot be economically stored, end user demand is largely weather ...

Electric Vehicles Ready for Breakthrough in MaaS? Consumer Adoption of E-Car Sharing and E-Scooter Sharing as a Part of Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS)

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Current mobility trends indicate that the popularity of privately-owned cars will decrease in the near future. One reason for this development is the diffusion of mobility services such as car or bike sharing, or Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS) bundles ...

Energy Management Policies for Energy-Neutral Source-Channel Coding

open access: yes, 2011
In cyber-physical systems where sensors measure the temporal evolution of a given phenomenon of interest and radio communication takes place over short distances, the energy spent for source acquisition and compression may be comparable with that used ...

Optimal Energy Management Policies for Energy Harvesting Sensor Nodes

open access: yes, 2008
We study a sensor node with an energy harvesting source. The generated energy can be stored in a buffer. The sensor node periodically senses a random field and generates a packet.

Energy use for urban water management by utilities and Households in Los Angeles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Reducing energy consumption for urban water management may yield economic and environmental benefits. Few studies provide comprehensive assessments of energy needs for urban water sectors that include both utility operations and household use.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Dynamic Energy Management

open access: yes, 2019
We present a unified method, based on convex optimization, for managing the power produced and consumed by a network of devices over time. We start with the simple setting of optimizing power flows in a static network, and then proceed to the case of ...

Risk-Aware Management of Distributed Energy Resources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
High wind energy penetration critically challenges the economic dispatch of current and future power systems. Supply and demand must be balanced at every bus of the grid, while respecting transmission line ratings and accounting for the stochastic nature
