Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Global existence and decay estimates of the classical solution to the compressible Navier-Stokes-Smoluchowski equations in ℝ3

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis
The compressible Navier-Stokes-Smoluchowski equations under investigation concern the behavior of the mixture of fluid and particles at a macroscopic scale. We devote to the existence of the global classical solution near the stationary solution based on

Studying High Energy Final State Interactions by N/D Method

open access: yes, 1999
We discuss the final state interaction effects at high energies via a multi-channel N/D method. We find that the 2 by 2 charge--exchange final state interactions typically contribute an enhancement factor of a few times $10^{-2}$ in the $B$ meson decay ...

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Numerical and Experimental Study on Dummy Blade with Underplatform Damper

open access: yesMachines
To confirm the variation in damping ratio offered by dry friction dampers against structural vibration stress, this study developed a blade vibration response test system for capturing damping characteristic curves through both frequency sweep excitation

Mechanic properties analysis of quasi-square honeycomb sandwich structure′s core

open access: yesJournal of Hebei University of Science and Technology, 2017
In order to illustrate the relationship between the quasi-square-honeycomb structure and the hexagonal honeycomb structure, after decomposing the quasi-square honeycomb sandwich structure into unique T-shaped cell, the equivalent elastic constants ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Casimir Energy for a Purely Dielectric Cylinder by the Mode Summation Method

open access: yes, 2005
We use the mode summation method together with zeta-function regularization to compute the Casimir energy of a dilute dielectric cylinder. The method is very transparent, and sheds light on the reason the resulting energy vanishes.Comment: 11 pages ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
