Estimating energy outputs of fuels

Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
Which is the best fuel in terms of heat energy output: coal, natural gas, fuel oil, hydrogen, or alcohol? It is possible to obtain a semi quantitative estimate of the heat generated by combustion of a fuel from the balanced chemical equation alone.

Applications of Input-Output Analysis to Energy Problems

Science, 1974
A brief outline of the U. S. input- output system and data base is given. An input-output table gives a detailed picture of the flow of goods and services that individual industries buy from and sell to each other in a particular year. The system was used in estimating the impact of 1973- 1974 petroleum shortages on output, employment, and prices.

The Energy Output of Normal and Anoxic Cardiac Muscle

1969
A myothermic technique has been used to investigate the energy output of rabbit papillary muscles that were either hypoxic or metabolically inhibited by iodoacetic acid and nitrogen. At room temperature, 18–22°C, hypoxia reduced resting heat production from a mean of 30.1 to 18.4 mcal/g muscle · min.

Closing the Loops on Energy Balance: Energy Output Side

2009
While failure to attain desired levels of weight loss is a common disappointment for many dieters, what to many is even more discouraging is the difficulty of maintaining those subpar weight losses. The record shows that a majority of dieters who succeed in losing weight eventually regain it, typically regaining one third to two thirds of lost weight ...
