Energy optimization of multi-robot systems

2015 IEEE International Conference on Automation Science and Engineering (CASE), 2015
This paper presents an optimization algorithm that has been able to save up to 45% of the energy consumption of an industrial multi-robot system. The tool Sequence Planner now includes these algorithms, focusing on minimizing energy consumption. The goal has been to reduce the energy consumption of individual robots and robots interacting in a work ...

ENERGY-OPTIMAL CONTROL IN TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
A task is to control one vehicle along a given track within the prescribed travel time. An optimal solution of this elementary control task can be found by several methods: experimentally, using Pontryagin's maximum principle, dynamical programming or numerical methods. An original control algorithm is presented in the paper.

Hierarchical Optimization for Building Energy Systems

2018 Annual American Control Conference (ACC), 2018
Optimal tradeoff between energy efficiency and thermal comfort is a critical aspect for building heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. Traditional optimization and control schemes such as, PID and rule-based control (RBC), may not sufficiently address this issue in smart buildings.

Evaluation of energy systems for selecting the optimal energy system

2010 IEEE Conference on Innovative Technologies for an Efficient and Reliable Electricity Supply, 2010
Recently, due to extensive use of fossil fuels, the problem of global warming has been raised. For solving this problem new energy sources have been growing extensively. In this paper the selection of the optimal energy supply system is considered. Due to energy policies in recent years this selection is not only based on financial aspects but also ...

Optimal energy flow in islanded integrated energy systems

IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017
Traditional power systems have become outdated, unable to provide the clean energy enforced by current regulations. In addition, the intermittent renewable energy and the distributed generation make it difficult for the current electricity grid to reliably respond to increased energy demands.

Optimizing the Electrical Power in an Energy Harvesting System

International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2015
In this paper, we study the vibrational resonance (VR) phenomenon as a useful mechanism for energy harvesting purposes. A system, driven by a low frequency and a high frequency forcing, can give birth to the vibrational resonance phenomenon, when the two forcing amplitudes resonate and a maximum in amplitude is reached.

Energy Optimization of a Dynamic System Controller

2013
The paper deals with the application of fuzzy logic in the method of designing the parameters of a continuous dynamic system controller that is energetically optimal and at the same time meets the desired dynamic control parameters. The suitable controller parameters are established on the basis of a fuzzy model of the system, generated through its ...

Analysis and Optimization of Urban Energy Systems

2020
Cities and municipalities are critical for the success of the energy transition and hence often pursue their own sustainability goals. However, there is a lack of the required know-how to identify suitable combinations of measures to achieve these goals.

Local Optimization of Energy Systems

Advanced Energy Systems, 1996
Abstract Many thermal systems are very complex due to the number of components and/or its strong interdependence. This complexity makes difficult the optimization of the system design and operation. The Theory of Exergetic Cost is based on concepts such as resources, structure, efficiency and purpose (belonging to any theory of ...
