Analysis of the spray field development on a vertical surface during water spray-quenching using a flat spray nozzle [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The aims of this study were (i) to conduct experimental spatially and time-resolved measurements of flow development on a large heated surfaces during transient spray cooling operations and (ii) to investigate and discuss the influence of spray cooling ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

A Survey of Engineering College Libraries in Sri Venkateswara University Area, Andhra Pradesh, India [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Engineers have been important to every civilization, ancient and modern. They invent, design, build and produce most of the products that make up the present civilization. They find out the solutions to the practical problems faced by the society. Hence,

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

An analysis of residual stresses and strains in shot peening [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The beneficial effect of shot peening on fatigue resistance of structural alloys is well documented and widely used in industry to improve component life.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Health Hazard Evaluation Report: TA 73-000-029: letter to Allied Materials Corporation, Stroud, Oklahoma [PDF]

open access: yes
The results of my walk-through survey of the refinery division indicates that an in-depth survey of Allied would not be necessary. Table A clearly shows that the 8-hour time-weighted average airborne concentrations of asbestos does not exceed the present

Affordance-Based Design of Physical Interfaces for Ubiquitous Environments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Physical interfaces have been proposed as a way to realize natural interactions with ubiquitous computing environments. The successful design of such interfaces requires design approaches that integrate aspects of our world which are usually treated ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
