On Cloud-Based Engineering of Dependable Systems [PDF]
The cloud computing paradigm is being adopted by many organizations in different application domains as it is cost effective and offers a virtually unlimited pool of resources. Engineering critical systems can benefit from clouds in attaining all dependability means: fault tolerance, fault prevention, fault removal and fault forecasting.

Assessment of work-based reports: an analysis of assessment frameworks [PDF]
In Britain engineering professional development has traditionally been seen as a three phase process consisting of a period of engineering formation, a period of training and a period during which engineering responsibilities are demonstrated.

Urine is a rich source of biomarkers for cancer detection. Tumor‐derived material is released into the bloodstream and transported to the urine. Urine can easily be collected from individuals, allowing non‐invasive cancer detection. This review discusses the rationale behind urine‐based cancer detection and its potential for cancer diagnostics ...

The retrieval effectiveness of search engines on navigational queries [PDF]
Purpose - To test major Web search engines on their performance on navigational queries, i.e. searches for homepages. Design/methodology/approach - 100 real user queries are posed to six search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, Seekport, and Exalead). Users described the desired pages, and the results position of these is recorded.

Subpar reporting of pre‐analytical variables in RNA‐focused blood plasma studies
Pre‐analytical variables strongly influence the analysis of extracellular RNA (cell‐free RNA; exRNA) derived from blood plasma. Their reporting is essential to allow interpretation and replication of results. By evaluating 200 exRNA studies, we pinpoint a lack of reporting pre‐analytical variables associated with blood collection, plasma preparation ...

Theorizing neuro-induced relationships between cognitive diversity, motivation, grit and academic performance in multidisciplinary engineering education context [PDF]
Nowadays, engineers need to tackle many unprecedented challenges that are often complex, and, most importantly, cannot be exhaustively compartmentalized into a single engineering discipline. In other words, most engineering problems need to be solved from a multidisciplinary approach. However, conventional engineering programs usually adopt pedagogical

Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) promote cancer growth, invasion (metastasis), and drug resistance. Here, we identified functional and diverse circulating CAFs (cCAFs) in patients with metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa). cCAFs were found in higher numbers and were functional and diverse in mPCa patients versus healthy individuals, suggesting their ...
