An analysis of final year student project performance in mechanical engineering [PDF]
This paper describes a statistical analysis of the students' results in mechanical engineering Final Year Project (FYP) at undergraduate level eight. Project marks of the final year students obtained over the past six years (2002-2008) were recorded and ...

GEO: Generative Engine Optimization
The advent of large language models (LLMs) has ushered in a new paradigm of search engines that use generative models to gather and summarize information to answer user queries. This emerging technology, which we formalize under the unified framework of generative engines (GEs), can generate accurate and personalized responses, rapidly replacing ...

Unraveling LINE‐1 retrotransposition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
The novel RetroTest method allows the detection of L1 activation in clinical samples with low DNA input, providing global L1 activity and the identification of the L1 source element. We applied RetroTest to a real‐world cohort of HNSCC patients where we reported an early L1 activation, with more than 60% of T1 patients showing L1 activity.

Institutionalising Ontology-Based Semantic Integration [PDF]
We address what is still a scarcity of general mathematical foundations for ontology-based semantic integration underlying current knowledge engineering methodologies in decentralised and distributed environments. After recalling the first-order ontology-

Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

Generative vs. Non-Generative Models in Engineering Shape Optimization
Generative models offer design diversity but tend to be computationally expensive, while non-generative models are computationally cost-effective but produce less diverse and often invalid designs. However, the limitations of non-generative models can be overcome with the introduction of augmented shape signature vectors (SSVs) to represent both ...

TRIM24 and TRIM28 are androgen receptor (AR) coregulators which exhibit increased expression with cancer progression. Both TRIM24 and TRIM28 combine to influence the response of castrate‐resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) cells to AR inhibitors by mediating AR signalling, regulation of MYC and upregulating VEGF to promote angiogenesis. Castrate‐resistant
