Deformation and Failure Mechanisms of Natural/Waste Rubber Blends Under Mechanical and Thermal Cycles: A Synchrotron In Situ Study. [PDF]

open access: yesMacromol Rapid Commun
This study explores how ground tire rubber (GTR) enhances strain‐induced crystallization (SIC) in natural rubber (NR) under mechanical and thermal cycles. Using in situ WAXD, it reveals improved reinforcement, delayed failure, and increased thermal resistance while increasing GTR content.

Amphiphilic Poly(γ-glutamic acid) Derivatives for Delivering Doxorubicin in Cancer Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesMacromol Biosci
In this study, poly(γ‐glutamic acid) was modified via esterification with 4‐phenyl‐butyl bromide to enhance its amphiphilic properties, enabling self‐assembly into nanoparticles (NPs). Further functionalization with hydrophilic groups (MethoxyPEG) and targeting ligands (Folic acid‐PEG) (FA‐PEG) provided NPs that were loaded with DOX and delivered in U ...

3D Micropatterned Traction Force Microscopy: A Technique to Control 3D Cell Shape While Measuring Cell-Substrate Force Transmission. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
The function, mechanics, and 3D shape of cells are related to each other. Here, a technique is developed to control 3D cell shape, while measuring the mechanical forces that cells exert on their environment. It is found that breast epithelial cells transition from pushing to pulling on their environment as their volume is increased. Abstract Cell shape

An exploratory model of tree root pull-out in partly saturated soils [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
It is widely appreciated that plant roots enhance soil strength through two primary mechanisms: a decrease in soil saturation via root uptake and the mechanical interaction between roots and soil.

Numerical simulation of soil structure damage upon sampling [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Sampling disturbance is a perennial problem of geotechnical site investigation. The structure of soft soils is particularly fragile and prone to disturbance during sampling. The extent by which different sampling procedures modify soil structure has been

On the Convergence of Conjugate Gradient and GMRES Algorithms in the Forward Backward Sweep Method for Optimal Control

open access: yesOptimal Control Applications and Methods, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 498-510, March/April 2026.
Optimal control combines state and adjoint equations, which yield the state (x$$ x $$) and adjoint (lambda) variables as a function of the control variables (u$$ u $$). This structure allows us to design strategies for iteratively updating the control variable, based on conjugate gradient (CG) or GMRES algorithms.
