The Effect of PHA on Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Used A/O-SBR(anaerobic/aerobic alternating enhanced biological phosphorus removal system) to study carbon source and phosphate accumulating organisms (PAO) intracellular energy storage substance transformation, also studied PAO’s phosphorus removal capacity.

A lab-scale-enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) reactor was operated for 204 days to investigate the correlation between phosphorus removing performance and bacterial community structure. The phosphorus removing performance was good from day 1 to 92 and from day 172 to 204. However, the removal activity was in a deteriorated state from day 93

Enhanced Biological Removal of Phosphorus from Wastewater
1990Eutrophication, especially of inland waters, has emerged as one of the more severe pollution problems in arid nations such as Australia. This is caused mainly by the entry of excessive amounts of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) into the waters. Removal of compounds of N and P from effluents is an important factor in preventing eutrophication.

Glycerol as a sole carbon source for enhanced biological phosphorus removal
Water Research, 2012Wastewaters with low organic matter content are one of the major causes of EBPR failures in full-scale WWTP. This carbon source deficit can be solved by external carbon addition and glycerol is a perfect candidate since it is nowadays obtained in excess from biodiesel production.

Developments in Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR)
2003Phosphorus removal using Phosphorus Accumulating Organisms (PAOs) has attracted significant interest in recent years for controlling nutrient pollution in the aquatic environment. Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) has been known for several decades since the concept of “luxury uptake” was proposed in 1965 but the mechanisms have not been ...
