A depth enhancement strategy for kinect depth image
MIPPR 2017: Pattern Recognition and Computer Vision, 2018Kinect is a motion sensing input device which is widely used in computer vision and other related fields. However, there are many inaccurate depth data in Kinect depth images even Kinect v2. In this paper, an algorithm is proposed to enhance Kinect v2 depth images. According to the principle of its depth measuring, the foreground and the background are

Robust enhancement of depth images from depth sensors
Computers & Graphics, 2017In recent years, depth cameras (such as Microsoft Kinect and ToF cameras) have gained much popularity in computer graphics, visual computing and virtual reality communities due to their low price and easy availability. While depth cameras (e.g. Microsoft Kinect) provide RGB images along with real-time depth information at high frame rate, the depth ...

Localized image enhancement using depth map
2014 IEEE International Symposium on Signal Processing and Information Technology (ISSPIT), 2014The main objective of this paper is to propose a method for localized image enhancement. This method can be highly beneficial in medical purposes, like Laminography, or in enhancing images captured under non-uniform illumination. Along with a depth map, a spatial queue-based data structure is used to properly locate the area to be enhanced in the ...

Image-based localization with depth-enhanced image map
2003 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (Cat. No.03CH37422), 2004In this paper, we present an image-based robot incremental localization algorithm which uses a panoramic image-based map enhanced with depth from a laser range finder. The image-based map (model) contains both intensity information as well as sparse 3D geometric features. By assuming motion continuity, a robot can use the depth information in the image-

Robust enhancement of depth images from Kinect sensor
2015 IEEE Virtual Reality (VR), 2015We propose a new method to fill missing or invalid values in depth images generated from the Kinect depth sensor. To fill the missing depth values, we use a robust least median of squares (LMedS) approach. We apply our method for telepresence environments, where Kinects are used very often for reconstructing the captured scene in 3D.

Depth Image Enhancement Algorithm Based on RGB Image Fusion
2018 11th International Symposium on Computational Intelligence and Design (ISCID), 2018Considering the problem that large amount of structural defects in the depth image captured by Kinect2 decreased the accuracy of object detection and recognition. This paper proposed a depth image enhancement algorithm that fused RGB image information. Firstly, a synchronized RGB image was introduced and aligned with the depth image. Secondly, based on

Depth image enhancement algorithm for preserving boundary
Journal of Applied Optics, 2018The drawback of current depth image enhancement algorithms is poor performance of edge preserving. To solve this drawback, the gradient mask guided joint filtering(GMGJF)algorithm is proposed. The Sobel gradient transform is used to obtain the boundary direction information, and the hole region of the depth images was utilized to generate the hole mask.

Learning Dynamic Guidance for Depth Image Enhancement
2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR), 2017The depth images acquired by consumer depth sensors (e.g., Kinect and ToF) usually are of low resolution and insufficient quality. One natural solution is to incorporate with high resolution RGB camera for exploiting their statistical correlation.

Depth Estimation Based Underwater Image Enhancement
Advanced Materials Research, 2014According to the image formation model and the nature of underwater images, we find that the effect of the haze and the color distortion seriously pollute the underwater image data, lowing the quality of the underwater images in the visibility and the quality of the data.
