Perfusable Brain Microvascular Network‐On‐Chip Model to Study Flavivirus NS1‐Induced Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 35, Issue 50, December 9, 2025.
This study presents a microfluidic brain microvascular network‐on‐chip (BMVasChip) to investigate endothelial barrier dysfunction caused by flavivirus non‐structural protein 1 (NS1), including virus‐ and time‐dependent vascular damage, leakiness, and dysfunction.

Cellulose‐Nanocrystal‐Promoted Underwater Superoleophobic Wrinkles on Hydrogel Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 23, December 8, 2025.
Cellulose nanocrystals are assembled on the hydrogel surface by electrophoresis to form a wrinkled structure, creating superoleophobic surfaces that act as an antifouling surface in water. Abstract The surfaces of hydrogels need to be modified to endow them with antifouling properties in water.

Multidimensional Evolution of Surface Endothelialization Design Strategies: A Materials Biology Perspective

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, Volume 12, Issue 23, December 8, 2025.
This review critically evaluates three pivotal endothelial cell regulatory strategies (direct regulation, protein‐mediated interactions, and biological factor modulation), exploring their macro‐to‐micro effects in pathological environments, and examines how microscopic surface engineering influences broader in vivo pathological interactions ...

Dualistic Roles of High Mobility Group Box 1 in Cancer and Inflammation

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 23, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The High Mobility Group Box 1 (HMGB1) protein, a member of the HMG family, plays a crucial role in both cancer progression and inflammatory responses. HMGB1 can act as a damage‐associated molecular pattern (DAMP) to activate immune responses and modulate inflammation.
