Yesterday, today and tomorrow of autoimmune encephalitis

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2020
Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a category of immune-mediated encephalitis, which attracts more and more attention recently. With the development of neuroscience, the antibody spectrum of AE is expanded gradually, and the knowledge of its etiology ...

Targeting transcription factors associated with hemoglobinopathies: Lessons from successful interventions and implications for cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the transcription factors, repressive chromatin‐modifying complexes, and epigenetic mechanisms that control fetal hemoglobin repression. Notably, many regulators of γ‐globin silencing also function in transcriptional and epigenetic networks that drive cancer, highlighting opportunities to translate advances in hemoglobinopathy ...

Functional analysis of the molecular interactions of TATA box-containing genes and essential genes.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Genes can be divided into TATA-containing genes and TATA-less genes according to the presence of TATA box elements at promoter regions. TATA-containing genes tend to be stress-responsive, whereas many TATA-less genes are known to be related to cell ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

Using Enriched Category Theory to Construct the Nearest Neighbour Classification Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper is the first to construct and motivate a Machine Learning algorithm solely with Enriched Category Theory, supplementing evidence that Category Theory can provide valuable insights into the construction and explainability of Machine Learning ...

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

On the Problem of Anthroponymic Identity (with Reference to English Given Names) [PDF]

open access: yesВопросы ономастики, 2012
The paper discusses the concept of anthroponymic identity. The study of the problem demonstrates that anthroponymic identity should be considered as a dynamic category.

Somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) is a tumor suppressor in cutaneous and head & neck squamous cell carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study identifies somatostatin receptor 4 (Sstr4) as a critical tumor suppressor against skin and head/neck cancers (HNSCC, cSCC, and BCC). The loss of Sstr4 removes a check on cell growth, causing hyperactivation of the MAPK‐ERK signaling pathway (↑).

ADP‐ribosylation: An emerging regulator of the epigenome

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ADP‐ribosylation has emerged as a dynamic epigenetic signaling mechanism that modifies histones and chromatin‐associated proteins. Through coordinated PARylation and MARylation, it integrates with other histone modifications to regulate chromatin structure, transcription factor activity, and gene expression, influencing genome function and disease ...

On the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras

open access: yes, 2019
In [1] we prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over any field is semi-abelian [2]. The aim of this talk is to give an idea of the proof of this result and to explain some of its consequences.
