Contrastive mechanisms of groundwater ammonium enrichment in different hydrogeologic settings

Science of The Total Environment, 2023
Although high levels of geogenic ammonium in groundwater have been widely reported, the mechanisms controlling its heterogeneous distribution are not yet well understood. In this study, a comprehensive investigation of hydrogeology, sediments, and groundwater chemistry was coupled with a set of incubation experiments to reveal the contrasting ...

Mechanical enrichment of converted spodumene by selective sieving

Minerals Engineering, 2016
Abstract Spodumene ore can be concentrated in large particle size of 1–6 mm by a dense media separation (DMS) process. The concentrate typically contains relatively large amounts of impurities due to the incomplete liberation of spodumene and the quite narrow density difference between spodumene and gangue minerals.

Mechanisms of arsenic enrichment in geothermal and petroleum reservoirs fluids in Mexico

Water Research, 2010
The lack of chemical similarity between thermal fluids in geothermal and petroleum reservoirs in Mexico indicates a distinct origin for arsenic in both types of reservoirs. Deep fluids from geothermal reservoirs along the Transmexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB) are characterized by elevated arsenic concentrations, within a range between 1 and 100 mg L(-1) at

Mechanisms of enrichment of natural radioactivity along the beaches of the Camargue, France

Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2006
A field study was carried out along the Golfe du Lion, that focussed on the beaches of the Camargue, to locate the main areas where enriched U and Th are found, and to better understand the processes that concentrate radioactivity on beaches. Indeed enriched areas are observed on some Camargue beaches, where high-dose rates are recorded due to excess U

Enriched Environment and Effects on Neuropathic Pain: Experimental Findings and Mechanisms

Pain Practice, 2018
AbstractNeuropathic pain inflicts tremendous biopsychosocial suffering for patients worldwide. However, safe and effective treatment of neuropathic pain is a prominent unmet clinical need. Environmental enrichment (EE) is an emerging cost‐effective nonpharmacological approach to alleviate neuropathic pain and complement rehabilitation care.

An Autocompletion Mechanism for Enriched Keyword Queries to RDF Data Sources

2013
This article introduces a novel keyword query paradigm for end users in order to retrieve precise answers from semantic data sources. Contrary to existing approaches, connectors corresponding to linking words or verbal structures from natural languages are used inside queries to specify the meaning of each keyword, thus leading to a complete and ...

Mechanisms of cadmium resistance in anaerobic bacterial enrichments degrading pentachlorophenol

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 2003
The mechanisms of heavy-metal resistance used by adapted sulfidogenic and methanogenic enrichments degrading pentachlorophenol in the presence of cadmium (Cd) were studied. The enrichment cultures adapted to and readily tolerated bioavailable Cd concentrations up to 50 ppm while degrading an equal concentration of pentachlorophenol.

About the flow field in a mechanically driven ultracentrifuge for Uranium enrichment

Meccanica, 1984
A mechanically driven centrifuge is considered with a baffle near the bottom cover which rotates at a slightly lower velocity than that of the centrifuhe. A feed gas is introduced into the centrifuge by means of a tube coaxial with it. The immission takes place at the middle of the centrifuge height. The effect of the feed flow is investigated.

Sources and Mechanism of Lithium Enrichment in Oilfield Brines

Middle East Oil, Gas and Geosciences Show (MEOS GEO)
Abstract The increasing demand for lithium (Li), driven by the transition to sustainable energy solutions, necessitates a deeper understanding of the sources and mechanisms of Li enrichment in unconventional reservoirs, such as oilfield brines.
