Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Valutare la plusdotazione a scuola. Schoolwide Enrichment Model (SEM) per una didattica inclusiva dei gifted children

open access: yesIUL Research

A probabilistic generative model for GO enrichment analysis [PDF]

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 2008
The Gene Ontology (GO) is extensively used to analyze all types of high-throughput experiments. However, researchers still face several challenges when using GO and other functional annotation databases. One problem is the large number of multiple hypotheses that are being tested for each study.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Theoretical Investigation of the Material Usage During On-Bead Enrichment of Post-Translationally Modified Peptides in Suspension Systems

open access: yesMolecules
Over the past decade, the number and diversity of identified protein post-translational modifications (PTMs) have grown significantly. However, most PTMs occur at relatively low abundance, making selective enrichment of modified peptides essential.

Using a thematic model to enrich photo montages [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 20th ACM conference on Hypertext and hypermedia, 2009
Narrative systems attempt to present users with media collections that include some element of structure or story, however these collections can lack an authorial voice and seem bland as a result. In this paper we explore how themes could be used to enrich automatically generated narratives, and describe how a system which generated story selections in

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Simulation analysis of the mechanism and influencing factors of remaining oil secondary enrichment in ultra-high water cut fault block reservoirs

open access: yesEnergy Exploration & Exploitation, 2023
After the near-abandoned production wells in the high part of the fault block reservoir are closed for a period of time, the remaining oil in the low part will accumulate at the fault in the high part to produce secondary enrichment. At present, research

Towards DaaS 2.0: Enriching Data Models [PDF]

open access: yes2013 IEEE Ninth World Congress on Services, 2013
Current Data as a Service solutions present a lack of flexibility in terms of allowing users to customize the underlying data models by including new concepts or functionalities. Data providers either publish global APIs to make data available, or 'sell' and transfer data to clients so they can do whatever they want with it.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.
