Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Characterization of vancomycin resistance in Enterococcus faecium and Enterococcus faecalis

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1989
Vancomycin resistance in Enterococcus faecium 180, a clinical isolate from England, was studied. Resistance to vancomycin was transferable by conjugation to other enterococci. Expression of resistance was inducible and coincided with the appearance of a new membrane protein.

A Core Genome Multilocus Sequence Typing Scheme for Enterococcus faecalis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 2019
Among enterococci, Enterococcus faecalis occurs ubiquitously, with the highest incidence of human and animal infections. The high genetic plasticity of E. faecalis complicates both molecular investigations and phylogenetic analyses.

Supersulfide biology and translational medicine for disease control

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract For decades, the major focus of redox biology has been oxygen, the most abundant element on Earth. Molecular oxygen functions as the final electron acceptor in the mitochondrial respiratory chain, contributing to energy production in aerobic organisms. In addition, oxygen‐derived reactive oxygen species including hydrogen peroxide and nitrogen

Proteomics as a quality control tool of pharmaceutical probiotic bacterial lysate products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Probiotic bacteria have a wide range of applications in veterinary and human therapeutics. Inactivated probiotics are complex samples and quality control (QC) should measure as many molecular features as possible.

Sugar Functionalized Collagen Material for Local Modulation of Innate Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Modulation of the innate immune response at the implant site can significantly influence adaptive immunity. A mannose‐functionalized collagen patch, termed the Local Immunotuning Patch (LIP), has been designed to engage mannose receptors on antigen‐presenting cells while exhibiting antibacterial properties. LIP orchestrates complex immune pathways that
