Loss of Intestinal MSTN Promotes GLP‐1 Secretion Through SGLT1 Palmitoylation
Intestinal MSTN deficiency enhances glucose‐stimulated GLP‐1 secretion and glucose tolerance in high‐fat diet‐fed mice. Mechanistically, loss of MSTN promotes YY1‐associated ZDHHC20 expression, increasing SGLT1 S‐palmitoylation at Cys301 and its plasma membrane localization in L cells.

Generation of enteroendocrine cell diversity in midgut stem cell lineages [PDF]
The endocrine system mediates long-range peptide hormone signaling to broadcast changes in metabolic status to distant target tissues via the circulatory system. In many animals, the diffuse endocrine system of the gut is the largest endocrine tissue, with the full spectrum of endocrine cell subtypes not yet fully characterized.

Heat stress disrupts gut microbial balance in poultry, impairing nutrient absorption and immunity. This review outlines the interplay between thermal stress and microbiome dynamics and discusses integrative mitigation strategies, probiotics, phytogenics, cooling systems, and genetic adaptation to enhance poultry resilience.

Enteroendocrine cells couple nutrient sensing to nutrient absorption by regulating ion transport
Enteroendocrine cells (EECs) are specialized gastrointestinal cells that have a role in nutrient sensing and hormone secretion. Here the authors show that peptide YY from EECs regulates nutrient absorption in intestinal organoids.

Our paper systematically reviews the intestinal structure, function, and microbiota of ostriches, along with strategies for improving their gut health. We analyze how these factors collectively influence intestinal homeostasis and ostrich welfare, emphasizing probiotics as a promising intervention to enhance gut health, boost population well‐being, and

Regulation of Appetite, Satiation, and Body Weight by Enteroendocrine Cells. Part 2: Therapeutic Potential of Enteroendocrine Cells in the Treatment of Obesity [PDF]
Obesity is an epidemic and medical issue. Investigating the pathways regulating appetite, food intake, and body weight is crucial to find strategies for the prevention and treatment of obesity. In the context of therapeutic strategies, we focus here on the potential of enteroendocrine cells (EECs) and their secreted hormones in the regulation of body ...

Spatiotemporal organization of enteroendocrine peptide expression in Drosophila
The digestion of food and absorption of nutrients occurs in the gut. The nutritional value of food and its nutrients is detected by enteroendocrine cells, and peptide hormones produced by the enteroendocrine cells are thought to be involved in metabolic ...
