Atypical Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli

2016
The atypical enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), a subgroup of EPEC, has the ability to cause histopathologic attaching and effacing lesions in eukaryotic cells, but lacks the virulence-associated EPEC adherence factor plasmid. The aEPEC strains may harbor virulence markers of other Diarrheagenic E.

Typical Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli

2016
Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) is a leading cause of infantile diarrhea in developing countries. EPEC colonizes the small intestine and causes attaching-and-effacing (A/E) lesions, a phenotype encoded on the locus of enterocyte effacement (LEE) pathogenicity island.
