Atypical Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli
2016The atypical enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC), a subgroup of EPEC, has the ability to cause histopathologic attaching and effacing lesions in eukaryotic cells, but lacks the virulence-associated EPEC adherence factor plasmid. The aEPEC strains may harbor virulence markers of other Diarrheagenic E.

Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli-Reply
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1976In Reply .—Dr O'Donovan raises an interesting question concerning the possible interaction of viruses and bacteria in diarrheal disease. Presumably, he is alluding to bacteriophages, since he uses the analogy to phage-induced toxin production by Corynebacterium diphtheriae . This is an unlikely postulate.

Typical Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli
2016Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli (EPEC) is a leading cause of infantile diarrhea in developing countries. EPEC colonizes the small intestine and causes attaching-and-effacing (A/E) lesions, a phenotype encoded on the locus of enterocyte effacement (LEE) pathogenicity island.
