Influence of Gut Microbiota on Response to Immune Check Point Inhibitors in MASLD Patients With HCC: Unraveling the Connection

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have emerged as a promising treatment for various cancers, including advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, a significant proportion of patients with HCC, particularly those with metabolic dysfunction‐associated liver disease (MASLD), exhibit resistance to ICI therapy.

Protective Effects of Potential Probiotic Pediococcus acidilactici 100 Against Multi‐Drug‐Resistant Diarrheal Escherichia coli Strains Induced Changes in Caenorhabditis elegans Model System

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 374-384, April 2026.
This study shows the protective effects of potential probiotic strain of Pediococci strains against diarrheal Escherichia coli strains in Caenorhabditis elegans model system. The E. coli strains resulted in severe morphological and physiological damage to the worm whereas the probiotic interventions were able to reduce these damages.

Does pre-incubation in selective-enrichment media improve the detection of diarrheagenic Escherichia coli using the RIDA®GENE PCR?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Microbiology, 2023
We aimed to investigate whether a selective pre-PCR enrichment step improves test performance of RIDA®GENE EHEC/EPEC to detect diarrheagenic Escherichia coli from stool samples.

Tetracycline Resistance Pattern Among Lymphatic Filariasis‐Hyperendemic Communities in Southern Ghana: A Mixed‐Method Approach

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Tetracyclines continue to serve as a cost‐effective and essential treatment for common infections, particularly in resource‐limited regions such as lymphatic filariasis (LF)‐hyperendemic communities. The growing use of tetracycline‐based antibiotics by symptomatic filarial lymphedema patients, likely influenced by the ...

Yersinia enterocolitica O:3 Outer Membrane Vesicles as a Platform for Complement Activation

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2026.
Basic characteristics and biological activity of outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) secreted by Yersinia enterocolitica O:3 (YeO3), depending on LPS chemotype and growth temperature. ABSTRACT Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is the major component of the outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) of Gram‐negative bacteria.

The Antibacterial Effect of Methanol and Aqueous Extracts of Vaccinium arctostaphylos Fruit on Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli In Vitro

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2016
Background and Objectives: Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli strains cause a wide range of gastrointestinal infections, especially in developing countrirs. The aim of this study was to evaluate of the antibacterial effect of methanol and aqueous extracts

Imported Retail Beef and Chicken Meat Products Serve as Reservoirs for Emerging Antibiotic‐Resistant Pathotypes of Escherichia coli in Pristine Areas Free From Agricultural Activity

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
Retail meat–derived E. coli frequently harbored multidrug‑resistance phenotypes, diverse virulence determinants, and plasmid‑encoded resistance genes with high conjugative potential. Results indicate meat and poultry as underrecognized reservoirs facilitating dissemination of antimicrobial resistance and pathogenic lineages, with imported products ...

Characterisation of bacteria‐induced colitis and its modulation by probiotics in naked mole rats: a new mammalian model for acute inflammatory disease

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 268, Issue 4, Page 493-511, April 2026.
Abstract Enteropathogenic bacteria are a major cause of morbidity and mortality globally. While mouse models have been indispensable in advancing our understanding of infectious enteric diseases, key differences in intestinal microbiota and immunobiology between mice and humans underscore the need for alternative mammalian models that better ...
