ABSTRACT Tendon and ligament injuries often require surgery, with successful recovery, whether direct repair of a torn tendon to bone or reconstruction of ligaments, requiring effective tendon‐to‐bone integration. Unfortunately, re‐tear rates can be high, demonstrating the need for improved treatment strategies. The Hedgehog (Hh) pathway is critical to

ABSTRACT Localized reduction in bone mineral density (BMD) within the proximal humerus may compromise anchor fixation strength and tendon‐to‐bone healing after rotator cuff repair; however, standardized dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry (DXA) protocols and diagnostic thresholds are lacking. This study aimed to develop a reproducible proximal humerus DXA

Autoimmunity underlies many painful disorders, such as enthesopathies, which localize to the enthesis. From infiltration of the synovium and axial skeleton by B cells, to disturbances in the ratio of M1/M2 enthesis macrophages, to CD8 + T cell mediated ...

A Spheroid-Based In Vitro Model to Generate the Zonal Organisation of the Tendon-to-Bone Enthesis
The tendon-to-bone enthesis is a multiphasic structure with four structurally continuous and compositionally distinct regions: tendon, uncalcified fibrocartilage, calcified fibrocartilage and bone.

Objectives: This paper aims to assess the prevalence and relevance of the bursa-synovial lesion in spondyloarthritis (SpA). Methods: A transversal blind and controlled two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound (US) study of Achilles enthesis bursa in early SpA was undertaken. Clinical outcome measures were collected. Results: Bilateral

Achieving tendon enthesis regeneration across length scales
Surgical reattachment of tendon to bone is a clinical challenge, with unacceptably high retear rates in the early period after repair. A primary reason for these repeated tears is that the multiscale toughening mechanisms found at the healthy tendon enthesis are not regenerated during tendon-to-bone healing.

Background: Deep gluteal syndrome (DGS) has traditionally been attributed to sciatic nerve entrapment within the deep gluteal space. However, increasing evidence suggests that enthesopathy and soft tissue pathology of the short external rotators may also
