Photostabilization of an Entomopathogenic Fungus Using Composite Clay Matrices¶

Photochemistry and Photobiology, 2003
To provide photostabilization for entomopathogenic fungi by anionic dyes, composite matrices based on clay-biopolymer combinations were prepared. In the first step, the negative surface charge of various clays (montmorillonite, attapulgite, bentonite and kaolinite) was reversed to positive by adsorption to the polycationic biopolymer chitosan.

Double-stranded RNA in the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium flavoviride

Current Genetics, 1999
Bands of dsRNA were detected in five out of seven isolates of the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium flavoviride. The identity of these bands was proven by RNase and S1-nuclease treatments. The transference of dsRNA between isolates (from CG291 to CG442) was successfully carried out through forced heterokaryons. Isogenic strains, with or without dsRNA,

Role of Entomopathogenic Fungus in Pest Management

2014
Insect pests cause enormous damage to our crops. However, insects like other living things have their enemies in nature. Microorganisms like fungi, bacteria, and viruses also play a vital role in checking the insect population. Among which fungi parasitize the insects and cause severe epizootics than bacteria and viruses, and it is distributed ...

An Entomopathogenic Fungus for Control of Adult African Malaria Mosquitoes

Science, 2005
Biological control of malaria mosquitoes in Africa has rarely been used in vector control programs. Recent developments in this field show that certain fungi are virulent to adult Anopheles mosquitoes. Practical delivery of an entomopathogenic fungus that infected and killed adult

Immunochemical characterization of the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1991
Abstract Analysis by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) of crude extracts from the mycelium of five Beauveria bassiana isolates contained several proteins which were used to produce antibodies in BALB/c mice. The antibody response to these proteins was good and enzyme-linked immunoassay showed a wide antigenic ...

New Destruxins from the Entomopathogenic Fungus Metarhizium anisopliae

Journal of Natural Products, 1993
Four new cyclic depsipeptides have been isolated from the entomopathogenic fungus Metarbizium anisopliae. The chemical structures of destruxins A3 [4] and F [5] and desmethykdestruxins A [6] and C [7] were determined based on nmr and mass spectral data.

Efficient and versatile transformation systems in entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium species

Current Genetics, 2013
Lack of genetic tools in entomopathogenic fungi, especially those for targeted homologous recombination, hindered the advance in this field. To facilitate the genetic study, we constructed a transformation system in entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium sp.

Novel 11-norbetaenone isolated from an entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium antillanum

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2017
A novel nor-betaenone compound, 11-norbetaenone (1), was isolated from the culture broth of an entomopathogenic fungus Lecanicillium antillanum. The structure was determined on the basis of 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic data. The absolute stereochemistry of 1 was further confirmed by X-ray single crystallography analysis.

Efficacy of female Culex quinquefasciatus with entomopathogenic fungus Fusarium pallidoroseum

Parasitology Research, 2008
This study was conducted to isolate and identify natural entomopathogenic fungi from female Culex quinquefasciatus and to test their adulticidal activity. Field-collected female C. quinquefasciatus died early and were placed on a Saboraud's dextrose agar plates for growth and isolation of natural entomopathogenic fungi. The plates were maintained in an

Genetic Transformation and Mutagenesis of the Entomopathogenic Fungus Paecilomyces fumosoroseus

Journal of Invertebrate Pathology, 1999
We have developed a DNA-mediated transformation system for the entomopathogenic fungus Paecilomyces fumosoroseus based on resistance to the herbicide glufosinate ammonium. The resistance is provided by the bar gene from Streptomyces hygroscopicus and is under the control of the Aspergillus nidulans trpC promoter and terminator sequences. Frequencies of
