Entropy generation for natural convection by heated partitions in a cavity [PDF]
Entropy generation for natural convection in a partitioned cavity, with adiabatic horizontal and isothermally cooled vertical walls, is studied numerically by both a FORTRAN code and the commercially available CFD-ACE software.

Volumetric entropy generation rate associated with tip clearance flow in linear cascade
Abstract The tip clearance flow structure and its corresponding entropy generation rate of a linear cascade with 1.85mm radial tip clearance operating under three different incidence angle are investigated. The incidence angle influences the tip leakage vortex position as well as the size of the tip leakage vortex. Larger incidence angle

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Second Law Analysis of a Reactive MHD Couple Stress Fluid Through Porous Medium [PDF]
In this work, effect of magnetic field on the entropy generation rate of a reactive couple stress fluid through porous medium is investigated. The equations governing the fluid flow are formulated, nondimensionalised and solved using the rapidly ...

Heat transfer and entropy generation optimization of forced convection in a porous-saturated duct of rectangular cross-section [PDF]
We investigate analytically the first and the second law characteristics of fully developed forced convection inside a porous-saturated duct of rectangular cross-section. The Darcy-Brinkman flow model is employed.

ENTROPY GENERATION RATE IN A MICROSCALE THIN FILM
This paper presents a new formulation of the rate of entropy generation in thin films whose thickness is of the order of the mean-free-path or less. In this relation, an expression for the gradient of the equivalent equilibrium temperature is proposed that is a function of the gradient of the phonon intensity at any point inside the thin film.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
