Entropy collapse versus entropy rigidity for Reeb and Finsler flows

open access: yesSelecta Mathematica, New Series, 2023
AbstractOn every closed contact manifold there exist contact forms with volume one whose Reeb flows have arbitrarily small topological entropy. In contrast, for many closed manifolds there is a uniform positive lower bound for the topological entropy of (not necessarily reversible) normalized Finsler geodesic flows.

The covariant entropy bound in gravitational collapse [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2004
We study the covariant entropy bound in the context of gravitational collapse. First, we discuss critically the heuristic arguments advanced by Bousso. Then we solve the problem through an exact model: a Tolman-Bondi dust shell collapsing into a Schwarzschild black hole. After the collapse, a new black hole with a larger mass is formed. The horizon, $L$

Entropy and Non-Collapse in Lorentzian Geometry

open access: yesPhysics Letters B
In this paper, we establish a geometric correspondence between the Lorentzian Raychaudhuri equation and Perelman’s non-collapsing theorem for the Ricci flow.

A risk assessment approach for road collapse along tunnels based on an improved entropy weight method and K-means cluster algorithm

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Ground collapse often occurs when strata are disturbed, particularly during tunnel construction, threatening the safety of people and underground facilities.

Quantum collapse rules from the maximum relative entropy principle

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
We show that the von Neumann–Lüders collapse rules in quantum mechanics always select the unique state that maximises the quantum relative entropy with respect to the premeasurement state, subject to the constraint that the postmeasurement state has to ...

The Entropy Field Structure and the Recursive Collapse of the Electron: A Thermodynamic Foundation for Quantum Behavior

open access: yesQuantum Reports
Conventional quantum mechanics treats the electron as a point-like particle endowed with intrinsic properties—mass, charge, and spin—that are inserted as axioms rather than derived from first principles.

A Fully Digital True Random Number Generator With Entropy Source Based in Frequency Collapse

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
All cryptography systems have a True Random Number Generator (TRNG). In the process of validating, these systems are necessary for prototyping in Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA).

An Investigation of the Entropy Associated with a Collapsing Molecular Cloud

open access: yesAstronomy
The investigation of entropy variation during the star formation process within collapsing molecular clouds represents a significant field of inquiry in astrophysics.

What is life? The observer prescriptive

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
In his famous book, “What is life?”, Erwin Schrödinger defines biological processes as processes that decrease entropy. As accurate as this description is, entropy reduction is not unique to animate processes; therefore, this definition does not clearly ...
