Optimization of microchannel heat sinks using entropy generation minimization method

Twenty-Second Annual IEEE Semiconductor Thermal Measurement And Management Symposium, 2006
In this study, an entropy generation minimization (EGM) procedure is employed to optimize the overall performance of microchannel heat sinks. This allows the combined effects of thermal resistance and pressure drop to be assessed simultaneously as the heat sink interacts with the surrounding flow field.

◾ Entropy Generation Minimization in Nanofluid Flow

2015
Extensive studies can be found in the literature on the development of nanofluids and improvements of their thermofluid characteristics both theoretically and experimentally. On the contrary, most of the studies on nanofluids have been conducted from the first law of thermodynamics perspective.

Production optimization of hydrocarbon reservoirs by entropy generation minimization

Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, 2020
Abstract Reservoir entropy generation has a significant role in production cycles of a hydrocarbon reservoir. During production, entropy generation characterizes the irreversible fluid energy losses. This paper aims to develop a new production strategy that minimizes the entropy production to improve operational efficiencies.

Entropy generation minimization for CO2 hydrogenation to light olefins

Energy, 2018
Abstract An optimization model is established for the reaction process of CO2 hydrogenation to light olefins in a fixed-bed tubular reactor based on finite time thermodynamics or entropy generation minimization theory. In the present study, the specific generation rate (entropy generation rate averaged by the production rate of the target product) is

The Method of Entropy Generation Minimization

1999
The objective of this chapter is to review a modern transformation in the teaching, research and practice of energy engineering: the increasingly important roles played by thermodynamics (especially the second law) in problem formulation, modeling and design optimization.

Resolving the Generalized Bas-Relief Ambiguity by Entropy Minimization

2007 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2007
It is well known in the photometric stereo literature that uncalibrated photometric stereo, where light source strength and direction are unknown, can recover the surface geometry of a Lambertian object up to a 3-parameter linear transform known as the generalized bas relief (GBR) ambiguity.

Eyring–Powell nanofluid flow with nonlinear mixed convection: Entropy generation minimization

Computer Methods and Programs in Biomedicine, 2020
Entropy is the amount of energy which is lost during any irreversible process. Here our main focus is that how can we reduce this energy loss to enhance the capability of our system. Blood is an example of Eyring-Powell fluid. Many strategies are used to rise the capacity of heat transport.
