Entropy generation minimization in transient heat conduction processes PART II – Transient heat conduction in solids

open access: yes, 2014
Formulation and solution of the initial boundary-value problem of heat conduction in solids have been presented when an entropy generation minimization principle is imposed as the arbitrary constraint.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Application of the EGM Method to a LED-Based Spotlight: A Constrained Pseudo-Optimization Design Process Based on the Analysis of the Local Entropy Generation Maps

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
In this paper, the entropy generation minimization (EGM) method is applied to an industrial heat transfer problem: the forced convective cooling of a LED-based spotlight.

Analysis of Entropy Generation Minimization in Radial Heat Sink

open access: yesIndian Journal of Science and Technology, 2016
Background/Objective:In this paper, an entropy generation rateof a radial flow type heat sink model has been investigated and its minimization is the primary aim of this study to exhibit the overall performance of the model. Methods/Statistical Analysis: The entropy generation method (EGM), which is one of the best modeling and optimization approach ...

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Minimization of entropy generation rate in methanol steam reforming reactor

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
The methanol steam reforming (MSR) reaction is a prospective method in hydrogen generation because of its operability and high conversion efficiency. Most of the current thermodynamic studies involving MSR use classical thermodynamic methods, while fewer

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Radiative thermal criticality and entropy generation of hydromagnetic reactive Powell–Eyring fluid in saturated porous media with variable conductivity

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2019
Theoretical study of inherent irreversibility and thermal runaway of an exothermic reactive Eyring–Powell fluid flow through a saturated porous fixed horizontal channel with thermal radiation and variable electrical conductivity is investigated.
