Entropy and Entropy Production in Multiscale Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics, 2019
Abstract Heat conduction is investigated on three levels: equilibrium, Fourier, and Cattaneo. The Fourier level is either the point of departure for investigating the approach to equilibrium or the final stage in the investigation of the approach from the Cattaneo level.

Entropy and entropy production in some applications [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2014
By using entropy and entropy production, we calculate the steady flux of some phenomena. The method we use is a competition method, $S_S/ + ={\it maximum}$, where $S_S$ is system entropy, $ $ is entropy production and $ $ is microscopic interaction time. System entropy is calculated from the equilibrium state by studying the flux fluctuations.

Measurement of Stochastic Entropy Production [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2006
Using fluorescence spectroscopy we directly measure entropy production of a single two-level system realized experimentally as an optically driven defect center in diamond. We exploit a recent suggestion to define entropy on the level of a single stochastic trajectory (Seifert, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 95}, 040602 (2005)).

Entropy production by resonance decays [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review C, 1996
We investigate entropy production for an expanding system of particles and resonances with isospin symmetry -- in our case pions and $ $ mesons -- within the framework of relativistic kinetic theory. A cascade code to simulate the kinetic equations is developed and results for entropy production and particle spectra are presented.

Thermodynamics of Thermoelectric Phenomena and Applications [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy, 2011
Fifty years ago, the optimization of thermoelectric devices was analyzed by considering the relation between optimal performances and local entropy production. Entropy is produced by the irreversible processes in thermoelectric devices.

Unified framework for the entropy production and the stochastic interaction based on information geometry

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2020
We show a relation between the entropy production in stochastic thermodynamics and the stochastic interaction in the integrated information theory. To clarify this relation, we introduce an information-geometric interpretation of the entropy production ...

Analysis of flow loss characteristics of slanted axial-flow pump device based on entropy production theory

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2022
Slanted axial-flow pump devices are widely applied in urban water supply, irrigation and drainage engineering fields. The second law of thermodynamics is applied to investigate the flow loss characteristics of the 30° slanted axial-flow pump model ...

Characteristics of Cavitation Flow for a Regulating Valve Based on Entropy Production Theory

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
A regulating valve is a key control element in the coal liquefaction industry, whose flow field distribution is related to the entropy production. In order to make a quantitative evaluation of the energy loss in the cavitation flow and calculate the ...
