A physical model, based on energy balances, is proposed to describe the fractures in solid structures such as stelae, tiles, glass, and others. We applied the model to investigate the transition of the Rosetta Stone from the original state to the final state with three major fractures. We consider a statistical corner-breaking model with cutting rules.

Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Entropy Identity and Material-Independent Equilibrium Conditions in Relativistic Thermodynamics
On the basis of the balance equations for energy-momentum, spin, particle and entropy density, an approach is considered which represents a comparatively general framework for special- and general-relativistic continuum thermodynamics.

This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

Of entropy production by radiative processes in a conceptual climate model
The problem of calculating the global entropy production of the climate system is revisited. In the first place, means to set forth the entropy production due to absorption and emission of electromagnetic radiation are recalled.

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

As the critical component of a nuclear power plant (NPP), the reactor coolant pump (RCP) will suffer energy losses during operation, which can lead to a series of safety issues and adversely affect the efficiency and stability of the NPP.

The positive entropy production property for augmented nonlinear hyperbolic models
Given a first-order nonlinear hyperbolic system of conservation laws endowed with a convex entropy-entropy flux pair, we consider the class of weak solutions containing shock waves depending upon some small scale parameters.
