Mycobacteria, members of which cause tuberculosis and leprosy, produce cell walls of unusually low permeability, which contribute to their resistance to therapeutic agents. Their cell walls contain large amounts of C60-C90 fatty acids, mycolic acids, that are covalently linked to arabinogalactan.

The Envelope and the Psychiatrist: A Study of Patients' Envelopes
American Journal of Psychiatry, 1967The envelope as an imprint of the personality and preconscious thinking of its sender, and as a mirror of the relationship between sender and receiver, is investigated. Its multiple parts (addressee's designation, return address, placement of address, use of background space, type of envelope, postmark, postage stamp) are examined individually.

Envelopes and pre-envelopes of real waveforms
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1958Rice's formula ^1 for the "envelope" of a given signal is very cumbersome; in any case where the signal is not a single sine wave, the analytical use and explicit calculation of the envelope is practically prohibitive. A different formula for the envelope is given herein which is much simpler and easier to handle analytically. We show precisely that if

A distinguishing physical feature of many viruses is the presence of a host-derived lipid bilayer. This feature of the virus particle has important consequences for the assembly and release as well as the entry pathway for a particular virus. Significant advances have been made in our understanding of enveloped viruses.
