The Regulation of Environmental Noise in Germany
The protection from noise is one of the most important environmental topics, in particular because the noise situation has not improved in the recent years. To combat noise and to protect the citizens from noise is a major topic of national environmental

Nondestructive Testing of Welded Composite Metal Foams
X‐ray computed tomography (CT) is used to evaluate welded steel–steel composite metal foam (CMF) joints of two density classes. It reports variation in postweld spatial void distribution and correlates it to weld‐induced changes, mechanical performance, and failure within welded CMF panels.

Management of environmental noise - the Cracow example
The aim of this article is describing the management of an environmental noise system. The main part of the system are information layers, which are based at a SoundPlan, Integrated Noise Model and MapInfo programs.

A distinct semi‐confined inner‐tube chemical vapor deposition geometry enables reproducible, large‐area growth of phase‐pure 2D β′‐In2Se3 from InI + Se precursors. Engineering local vapor transport and optimizing precursor delivery and temperature–time conditions yield uniform continuous films.

The interaction of building energy use, ventilation performance and urban noise under future climate scenarios [PDF]
This thesis studies the interaction of building energy use, ventilation performance and urban noise under future climate scenarios, comparing in particular the noise and climatic influences on non-domestic natural ventilation cooling.

Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Citizens’ exposure to predominant noise sources in agglomerations
Environmental noise directive requires Member States to produce and periodically update strategic noise maps for agglomerates in order to evaluate citizens’ noise exposure before the action plan.

Low‐voltage FIB‐SEM tomography combined with a image preprocessing pipeline improves phase contrast and enables reliable machine‐learning segmentation of conductive networks in lithium‐ion battery electrodes. Structural descriptors are extracted from segmented images, done semimanually and automated, and compared.

The price of silence tradeable noise permits and airports [PDF]
This paper presents a market design for the management of noise disturbance created by aircraft traffic around large airports. A market for tradable noise permits allows noise generators to compensate harmed residents.
